Savage has to go down as one of the worst pundits around, yet worryingly looks set to take over as one of the mainstays on MOTD once Hansen and Lawro finally give up.

Essentially abandoning midfield in the second half and letting us play is apparently a sign of Champions. I'm not knocking United, I just can't see how he can say that we didn't look like scoring despite admitting De Gea had to make some great saves and Defoe and Dempsey in particular having chances they should have scored. Even in his bit on Bale being kept quiet he has to admit he still saw plenty of the ball, did well and that the tactic left their left flank more exposed. It's an article for the sake of having to write an article. If he wanted to write something interesting he could write about how United rotated their fouls well or how Lennon coming off the line makes him less predictable, an idea Jol had several years ago, and having the confidence to shoot is the key for him becoming a player who can open up defences sitting deep. Savage getting paid for displaying his limited understanding of top football and "going with the flow" as far as punditry goes, throwing around cliches and massaging the performances of the bigger teams, really doe make my blood boil.

So which of our enlightened football pundits and journalists annoy my fellow Yiddos most?
 
I wouldn't let your blood boil YV it's what you would expect. Take the popular view ie Man U are top so therefore look at the game from their point of view. As AVB said we prefer to look at it from the Spurs point of view.

The fact that we can drive a tank through the holes in Savage's argument makes me smile.
 
I read that article too and just thought "what a tool Savage is"!! He clings to his tenuous connection to ManUre at every opportunity. The biggest problem is that he is a particularly ignorant self-serving individual with no journo experience to remotely support any of his outpourings.

Of the rest, it is difficult to think of one that doesn't wind me up at some point. But at the top of my dislike list would be Keegan, Collymore and Beglin. (Mmmmmm - all have a Mouser connection - coincidence?)
Generally got time for Gary Neville and our own Chris Waddle, but can't think of too many that consistently cover themselves in glory.
 
Beglin and Tony Gale. Awful, ****ing awful.
I found a perfect stream for one of our games recently and switched to a German one instead to avoid Gale. They may have been talking ****e too, but I couldn't understand them.

Alan Smith's boring, but at least he tries to remain neutral.
I think Neville's generally recognised as surprising everyone and has become the best, though I thought he was going to cry yesterday! <laugh>

Leonardo and Seedorf both had fairly interesting stints on the BBC.
Maybe we need a few more opinions from those that aren't as familiar with the Premier League?
 
**** - forgot about Gale!!! Well remembered PNP.
Alan Smith's whining voice and his desperate attempts to hide his bias wind me up however.

Ray Wilkins and Alan smith for me. it's just painful to listen to. Ray wilkins' use of players first names who he knows and that therapist tone to his voice where he's stating the obvious. - it's likes he's broadcasting to an audience that he thinks are children. ahhhhh!!!

Alan Smith seems to go out of his way IMO to make sure he constantly says negative comments about us. what's more frustrating, is that he always seems to commentate on our games!

Merson is starting to wind me up too on soccer saturday.
 
ive realised through sopcast that i can quite happily listen to commentary in a foreign language.....its just the background noise that is an essential for the armchair experience. Therefore i just switch off mentally when listening to some of these commentators...after a while i usually just hear 'blah blah blah blah,blah blah blah blah'
 
Yep Tony Gale but like all gales they blow out eventually. A gale is after all just a bag of wind.

It wouldn't annoy me if Savage was given a suitable platform for his views, like Talksport, or even Soccer Saturday where it's more about opinion than insight. When you look at BBC's journalism across the board, whilst it might not always be great you couldn't often accuse it of being "safe" like their football reporting is.

Yeah, Seedorf in particular was good. I might be biased but I thought Jol was excellent on the Beeb and also when he was writing for the Times over the World Cup a few years back.
 
I have mentioned on here several times that Tony Gale has serious issues with Spurs. In the main these revolve around the intense dislike he and Harry have for each other. I doubt now that Harry has gone his dislike for us has calmed down. I remember with amusement our away game at Fulham a couple of seasons ago when Gale was walking in front of us Spurs fans to take up his TV position and he called out hello to Clive Allen who was doing our pre-match warm up. Clive looked up, saw Gale and said '**** off Tony'.

<laugh>.

Andy Gray has never had a good word to say about Spurs.
Richard Keys is a complete and utter muppet, who loves 'Pool and United.
Stan "the Twat" Collymore "predicted" that Spurs wouldn't be contenders for a top 4 place, this season.
Adrian Durham reckons that we are a one-man team, despite the fact that we didn't actually lose any games when Bale was injured.
Ray Wilkins, probably the most biased pundit on TV and radio, and very, very boring to listen to.

Those are my top 5.

Adrian Durham is a tool, his pieces for the DM are shocking journalism that basically is just one big official WUM. Andy Townsend is utter **** on ITV. Robbie Savage I have some time for, I think he does well on 606 but he does annoy me with the fact he constantly clings to the fact that he once had a contract at Utd and obviously shown some bias there. Adrian Chiles (not a pundit/commentator I know but a presenter at least...) really ****s me off, he's **** awful. Neville has surprised me, really knowledgeable about the game and seems to remain impartial most of the time, which must be difficult at times because I believe he's still a club ambassador for Utd. Ray Wilkins is also atrocious.
 
Kevin Kilbane is decent on BBC Radio 5L 606...of course that has nothing to do with the fact he said "WHL was his favourite ground to play at"

....I tuned into 606 yesterday after the match to listen to the phone in and they had Jason Roberts, the guy is a complete tool, I had to turn off, all he kept saying, was "i'm a footballer, I've played the game for over 20 years, I'm just here to give my view of what goes on in the dressing room, if you don't agree its fine but i'm just here to give my view".....Yes Jason we get the message, doesn't need repeating every 5 minutes!
 
Ray Wilkins does my head in, so biased he may as well just sit there with his ****ing Chelsea shirt on the Uncle Fester lookalike.

TV commentators would be better keeping quiet most of the time. We don't need them to tell us what we can plainly see and a lot of the cliched comment is so banal.

Neville is very good because he is an analyst rather than a commentator and his experience and knowledge of the game means he sees things most of us might miss.
