Those saying it's an indication we aren't getting our targets, who exactly could we realistically bring in to fill his shoes? We've seen him playing well in the PL for Blackpool and I can't think of too many players who are available who have his quality. If he truly has sorted his attitude out, he's a better proposition than any player we could have realistically brought in, so I'm not sure it indicates we are desperate. He's a high quality player and this solution makes sense for all parties.
Just goes to show that you can fool some of the people all of the time, the only reason he wants back in is because we might be going back to the premier league. He rants on twitter and the way he's slagged off fans was a disgrace, as far as im concerned we should have left him to rot till his contract is up.
Puncheon has been big enough to admit he has made mistakes, and is sorry for them. Nicola has therefore ended his blood feud with Puncheon, and accepted his apology, AND ben given a clean slate! Sir Nigel has asked the fans to show forgiveness as well. Welcome Jason, back to SFC, back on the bus, and working together to get us back in the EPL.
......and so you'll boo him Southend? You're of course entitled to your opinion, and I don't think anyone here is thinking "oh Puncheon's a top bloke" but we really, really need to all pull together now, particularly during this tough period, and push on for promotion. If that means swallowing my pride a little bit and cheering the roof off for Puncheon, that's what I'll do. The end justifies the means.
Some nice positive messages of support for JP on twitter. Lallana also posted on there that he is happy to see JP back. AL also mentioned that he only has slight knock and should be back very soon.
Come on in reality this is good news, so far we have technically brought in 3 more players, all of them free. No complaints from me, a player of good quality, whatever has happened in the past he has been big enough to appologise to it. I will support him but he will have to deal with it as I doubt everyone will do the same.
If you'd asked me a month ago whether I would take him back, I'd have said no. However, he is exactly what we need right now, and the comments from him and Nigel are encouraging. This is his last chance though.
Not at all happy with this. The guy's a complete arsehole. We should have ripped up his contract and told him to f**k off. Apology or not, Puncheon is the kind of person that will learn nothing from this and it makes Cortese and the club look like a soft touch. Stupid decision and I fully expect it to be regretted. Bringing a egotisitical 'wannabe gangster' tosser like him back in, is complete stupidity. I'm at a loss as to why Cortese has made this choice.
Just hope the fans give him a chance otherwise we could get in more of a mess if he is booed from the outset.
New chant for JP "Stand up if you've ever been a prat" Haven't we all been there? The difference here is that he has been a prat with his employer in public, thanks to the joys of twitter etc. If he comes on against Cardiff and tears them apart we'll soon forget that there was ever a problem. Fickle football fan? Yes indeed. But also don't we al deserve to have the chance to apologise and start again.
He's clearly very volatile and outspoken, but that doesn't automatically make him a "wannabe gangster". He deserves another chance.
Sorry, have you seen his tw@tter account. He writes as if he's straight out of Peckham - he's a complete nonce. I don't like the way in which he, Cortese and Adkins have all changed their tunes. Seems all a bit fishy to me (and i'm not talking about our friends down the M27). He has had too many chances, and as I said earlier he should have been f**ked off. Give one of the kids a chance instead of some jumped up prick like him. All it proves is that acting like a twat whilst representing a professional football club is ok because all will be forgiven in the end! It's complete nonsense, doesn't show the right message at all.
At least it's nice to see someone being consistant. If Puncheon had tried to reconcile his differences when we were playing well at the top I doubt there would have been many "welcome back Jason" posts then. Only a few days ago he was a gobby, big headed, useless pratt and we were better off without him. Now all of a sudden he's just what we need.
You do not have the relevant information to judge, get behind him like you would any other member of the team. I trust adkins and cortese to make the right decision
If he plays well and helps us reach our target it will mean a lot to both us and the club. First his price will go up even higher, and second he will have learned a harsh lesson whilst benefiting the club which is why we pay him after all.
In fairness there was a thread over a month ago saying we should aim to get him back on board and many posters, myself included agreed.
