I'm 19 and a girl as young as 16 (unless they're on the brink of 17) would put me off. Even 17 isn't exactly ideal - I'm not really the dating kind of guy - I prefer 'I'll see you around town sometime' and work from there

Yeah, making sure they were at least 16, and we were talking about when I was 17/18. Being one of the oldest in my year, when I was 17 and doing my A-Levels I was well aware that most of the people in the year below me were still 15 so there would be a slight issue there.

The age gap isn't really an issue for me, but being 28 I'm not going out with anyone who isn't legally an adult. I only tend to go out with people I know anyway, so childishness is removed from potential problems before we even get there. My most recent ex had just turned 18 when we met, and the only problems there came from her delusional parents who spent the whole year and a bit we were involved bullying her about it and trying to cause **** for me with my family (her dad and my step-dad grew up together).

Funny you should say that as i met my wife at "Fer Ark". She had gone along to watch a match with my cousin as a favour to her (she hated football) i had arranged to meet up with my cousin up for a drink before the game, we found out we had a lot in common (the wife that is, not my cousin), i arranged to see her again and 19 years later were sill together (and she still hates football)

The standard rule should be:

x = your age

y = minimum age you can go out with

y =0.5x + 7

This tends to work very nicely between the limits of 11 < x < 41.

I've taught some decent lessons on using the formula where the kids are given the rule and have to work out various minimum ages, what the limits should be, when your minimum age is your own age, what the reverse formula is etc. Surprisingly enough they actually see that algebra is used in real life......

And after sharing my geeky work life here's something more interesting on the topic of women at matches.

My wife comes along to a fair few of our away games so never complains about football. She's good company at matches too. After 7 years I've realised the brainwashing has worked. She told me yesterday that she had a dream that we were both playing for City and it was 4 - 4 near the end of the game. She passed to Koren, Koren passed to me and I scored the winner in the 90th minute. Result.

I did ask her how the hell Mannonne, Chester and Hobbs had managed to let 4 goals in!

Bit too complicated for me X! I just find out their age, easiest way to go. I said earlier that I was put off by 17 year olds because 1. they can't drink and 2. they're usually immature. Having said that, I met a 24 year old about a month ago who acted about 15, so I guess nobody is a guarantee

That only works on the slightly younger girls nowadays (just turned 17) because everyone in my generation seems to have one now. Or at least be insured on their parents car and claim that it is their own, like me

That's the rule I was trying to think of earlier. Have we had this on here before though? I've definitely posted it on a forum before and said I wasn't going to tell my then girlfriend (the 18/19 year old I mentioned, and the / is because we were involved for over a year not because I've forgotten).

An 11 year old has a problem with it, the youngest person they should go out with is 12.5. 14 is the start point (as that brings you out at 14), and I'd cap it at 45. At 46 you reach the point where you're old enough to be the (30 year old) person's parent.

I think you now need to have your own place to have the same effect when they're older than that. I know before I started going so obviously grey that when I invited someone back they assumed I lived at home and would ask if my folks would mind, and were then quite impressed when I said I'd bought my own place (the bought being the key word that caught their attention). I don't recommend you doing it just to pull though, mainly because unless you've set it up in advance (ie getting it so that if you're pulling one of your mates asks you when you're all going back to yours) it's just what seals the deal rather than being something that you can use to pull, and it costs a lot more.

The last three letters of the reg plate were YAG which when view in a rear view mirror described how I looked.

I never serviced the ****er in three years and was wholly shocked when it died on me.

My next car was a Fiat Punto.

I can confirm that even at 19 a 96 reg Micra doesn't work. Though it might be down to my girlfriend getting in the way of things actually...

As I said above, it's probably the girlfriend that's the problem. I can't talk to any other female without being hounded for full details of where/when and for some reason, whether or not I picked her up
