"Richard Trevithick’s Puffing Devil, the first steam-powered passenger-carrying vehicle, made its maiden journey on Christmas Eve in 1801 on a road outside Redruth in Cornwall. Trevithick was just 30-years-old, which puts the rest of our achievements in perspective. Steam was considered too dangerous to power vehicles at the time (hence the name ‘Puffing Devil’), but Trevithick managed to tame it."

Certainly did...'The very thought of you...' They don't make programmes like that any more - Denis Potter script, Michael Gambon and the gorgeous Joanne Whalley, brilliant cinematography and all those wonderful songs. Ann Shelton 'Blues in the Night' anyone? I have it on dvd and still never tire of it.

So, a question:

Which Shakespearean character was the result of a misspelling?

I think that is Imogen from Innogen. She is in Cymbeliine.

Regarding Singing Detective, remember the middle-aged older fella who was in the bed next to the Ted? David Ryall. Super actor. Passed away this last Christmas Day. Shame.
