What links Mark Lazarus, Brian Clark and Cliff Holton?
All leading scorers in a season for their clubs who transferred away and then returned to those clubs (QPR, Cardiff & Watford)?
Could be, but not what I have in mind. There is a 'Watford' link - and if I were to put money on anyone getting it, I'd have said you or OFH....
This is a goodie. I've researched managers they may have shared - I don't think it's that. Is it being a record scorer at the time for more than one club?

Back to Mark Lazarus, now, about as far removed from that picture as you can get.
Seems to have stalled - in much the same way the weather stalled the season in question...
Calculated guess. They scored hat tricks against us in successive home matches in March and April 1963. Lazarus for QPR 2-5 on 23/3/63, Clark 1-4 for Bristol City on 26/3/63 and Cliff H for Palace 1-4 on 6/4/63. I don't know the scorers in these games but all three players were playing for those clubs at the time, so it's a bit of a guess.
