Going down the wrong track - Ceres was the Roman godess of agriculture. This Ceres was most definitely a male....

There is a very vague connection with breweries - especially the Schleswig-Holstein ones, but nothing at all to do with ants etc...

AHA!! Importation from Friesland the renowned dairy bull Ceres 4497 FRS......successful in establishing the Friesian as an eminent long-living dairy breed in this country ....
