Easy question I think. What would you do with a broch? It is not an english word to make things more complicated.

Nobody really knows what they were for - forts, castles, stately homes have all been forward as theories as to what they were built for in the Iron Age. These days, they are generally viewed as shelters for livestock or hill walkers.

The local name for the town of Fraserburgh in NE Scotland is The Broch - leading me to tend towards the livestock theory... <laugh>
