I blame the sofa, not the tie.I remember over 30 years ago when i worked in the himalayas and ran the VSO programme..... . trekking in this remote village a days hike away with a suite and tie on! Never again except for weddings and funerals!

Again, a matter of opinion. I like sporting my colours at work.A very apt name...
Have never understood why people like/wear them - the last time I wore one was at my older sister's wedding in the 68/69 promotion season. Horrible, pointless things.
My Dad was a shop manager at Burtons for decades (should have been an Area Manager but he couldn't be bothered with the stress) and the Half Windsor knot was de-rigeur! For a thinner tie where a wider knot would look better then it would be a full Windsor.I agree, that's a half Windsor. A Windsor does both sides and it's twice as thick. My Dad taught me that one, and I still wear the half Windsor - with most ties. A full Windsor looks like you're trying to make some statement! I believe, without checking it was the old Duke of Windsor who advocated the Windsor as thick knots were the fashion.

When we beat Palace in the first leg of the playoff semi final 3- 0 I wore my Watford tie at work to cheer up a Palace supporter I worked with

I have forgotten what a job interview is.My Dad was a shop manager at Burtons for decades (should have been an Area Manager but he couldn't be bothered with the stress) and the Half Windsor knot was de-rigeur! For a thinner tie where a wider knot would look better then it would be a full Windsor.
I like ties when the occasion calls. Hatches, Matches, and Despatches, only though. Oh, and job interviews.
Its been a while!!I have forgotten what a job interview is.
