My Dad was a shop manager at Burtons for decades (should have been an Area Manager but he couldn't be bothered with the stress) and the Half Windsor knot was de-rigeur! For a thinner tie where a wider knot would look better then it would be a full Windsor.
I like ties when the occasion calls. Hatches, Matches, and Despatches, only though. Oh, and job interviews.

I have forgotten what a job interview is.
 
It’s a standard team photo, bottom row.

One of the remaining is Welsh, the other did not found KitAid (too many R’s) or cinematograph ‘Ask a Policeman’ (right number of R’s, but 21 years before he was born).
