What 'first' happened in this match - something which has only happened the once since?

Not that I'm aware of - but it certainly has something to do with the winning team.
The first, and only, time a winning team has beaten a team they had previously lost to in the group phase of the World Cup ? The same happened between the Netherlands and the USSR at the Euros 1988.
This one is taking a lot longer than I thought it would.

Yes - whilst playing together, that is. Although I'm not sure there are any instances of brothers winning in separate finals...
