Not that I'm aware of - but it certainly has something to do with the winning team.

The second time it happened was 12 years later.

The first, and only, time a winning team has beaten a team they had previously lost to in the group phase of the World Cup ? The same happened between the Netherlands and the USSR at the Euros 1988.

    No - 12 years after 1954 was 1966.

This has more to do with players.

This one is taking a lot longer than I thought it would.:(

The Charlton brothers in 1966 and the Walter brothers, Ottmar and Fritz, in 1954 are the only ones who have managed this - what is it they managed to do?

Yes - whilst playing together, that is. Although I'm not sure there are any instances of brothers winning in separate finals...

    Over to you.

Cheers BB. Two football clubs who have the name of the same city in their official names yet are located over a hundred miles from each other - which two clubs are they ?
