Still thinking… I like the question. To clarify (or confuse), whilst each of the aforementioned States has one, Australia itself doesn't have one.
The reason the US doesn't have one is Los Angeles.

Tequila?Mexico has one because of Guadalajara, but neither China nor India has one.
No, nothing to do with drink. It's more to do with what sort of place people live.Tequila?
Is it something to do with reservations for indigenous people? No, nothing to do with drink. It's more to do with what sort of place people live.

No and no - it's to do with places - eg, the US doesn't have one because of Los Angeles, what is Los Angeles? Is it to do with LGBTQ+ rights?
Los Angeles is a tip! Won't be going back there, once was one timetoo many!!No and no - it's to do with places - eg, the US doesn't have one because of Los Angeles, what is Los Angeles?
My only knowledge of the place comes from films & TV - but you are probably quite correct, given what I've seen.Los Angeles is a tip! Won't be going back there, once was one timetoo many!!
City of Angels... set in a basin... more thought required... Mrs Fez loves the question btw...
No, but you're getting onto the right track. What I'm looking for is a category that certain cities are in, and what qualifies them for that category. Going back to the wording of the question, this might help -A capital which is also the biggest City ? The USA, China and India don't have this.
L.A. was so bad we took a Greyhound bus to L.V. for the middle weekend. Truly awful. We made a mistake and should have gone to San Francisco not L.A.My only knowledge of the place comes from films & TV - but you are probably quite correct, given what I've seen.
Think 1) where Los Angeles is ranked in the US, and 2) size matters.
Tequila is a village! No, nothing to do with drink. It's more to do with what sort of place people live.
Whoops!Tequila is a village!![]()
Not really. It is a megacity, population 10m+, and is larger than the capital. Not sure that is The answer.
The city is of a higher populace than the remaining State / Territory where it is situated?
No. To confuse further, a city's population size in comparison to one other specific city is the main criterion used to establish whether or not a city can be called this. The term used was first coined in 1939.Firing a shot into the dark, BB, but keep this one going!
Is it to do with cities technically being a ‘metropolis’?
