According to the map there's a California Way - anything to do with that?

I think this one has gone on long enough so I'm giving you this one, BB. There is a suburban area of Birmingham known as California. Its position meant it was originally in Northfields which was then classified as Worcestershire. It was later incorporated into the Edgbaston area of Birmingham. I think it got its name from a pub called the California Inn, established by a man called Flavell who was said to have gone to California during the Gold Rush.
