Hadn't really noticed it up here as we buy locally produced, even though the supermarket shelves are full.

I spotted this a couple of days ago - it seems that the problem is of their own making, and is only going to get worse.

Oh that naughty man introduced rabbits!
Yes - English pastoralist Thomas Austin. His favourite sport in England had been rabbit shooting and he thought it would be a wheeze for Xmas guests to have a shooting party, so imported 24 and let them loose on his property - with devastating consequences across the whole country. Within ten years, two million rabbits were being shot/trapped annually, without even making a dent in numbers.
