Near enough BB. It was the whole area around Calais that was reclaimed by the French after 150 years. Four years later the English returned and took Le Havre port briefly, but a settlement was reached based on trade. Over to you.

    :emoticon-0148-yes:

Sticking with the French history theme, what is significant about the date 22nd April 1370?

Well that didn't take long either - it was the date the first stone was laid.

    Back to you.

Thanks BB. Staying in Europe, which French resistance member was directly elected to the EU parliament at the age of 86 and became President. One of the EU buildings is named after this person.

Cheers Frenchie - not a historical one this - Which football club has produced the most players currently playing in the top leagues of Europe ? By 'produced' I mean that those players either went through the youth academy, or started their professional careers there.

Barcelona have produced a lot of players from their academy, but that was a decade ago and things might have changed.

There are actually 50 players currently playing in the top leagues in Europe who either started their careers at Barcelona (or were at the academy there) which places them at number 12 in the list of 'football factories'. Ajax are number 2 on the list with 77. One of our former managers has also managed at the only club higher than Ajax on the list.

The manager referred to also played there but was not actually a product of their academy. The clubs neighbours have an unwanted historical relationship to Manchester.

Going by the manager clue, could that be Slaviša Jokanović, who played for and managed Partizan, Belgrade, but didn't come through their academy?
The neighbours could be Red Star Belgrade, and they were the team that played Man.Utd. when the Munich air crash happened. So without knowing I will guess at Partizan.

By due process of logic you got there Frenchie <applause> According to the CIES Football Observatory Partizan Belgrade top the league in this catagory - there are currently 85 players plying their trade professionally in Europe who started at the club, or with the academy. Quite impressive - the top 5 in this are Partizan 85, Ajax 77, Dinamo Zagreb 71, Dynamo Kiev 69 and Shakhtar Donetsk 67. Not surprisingly Premiership clubs do not do well in this catagory of actually producing players ! Over to you.

    Almost topical -
:emoticon-0159-musicOh, it's opening time down on Fascination Street
So let's cut the conversation and get out for a bit

Is this the three-legged 100yrds or the backwards 100yrds?
