It appears as an icon on the top left hand corner of my screen every time I try to use Google as a search machine looking for obscure answers to obscure questions on a pub quiz thread <laugh>

I see it when changing from one web site to another using the Google search function - immediately on typing the first letter.

Cheers Yorkie. Now a nice easy one: The song 'Sweet Home Alabama' from Lynyrd Skynyrd was a response to another song by another artist - which song and which artist ?

The answer is in the lyrics -

:emoticon-0159-musicWell, I heard Mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow:emoticon-0159-music
I believe Young's song 'Alabama' is involved too.

That's the one BB. The members of the band thought that the song 'Southern Man' was a slight on everybody in the south, and Neil Young later regretted writing it. Over to you.

I'm surprised SH didn't berate you for that...

Yes - spot on. Tsutomu Yamaguchi was the only officially recognised survivor of the two bombings - although the recognition was only given in 2009. An amazing story really - he was a resident of Nagasaki, but was on a business trip in Hiroshima the day the bomb was dropped there. He returned to Nagasaki the following day, had a day off work then went back to work the day after, in spite of his injuries - only to be bombed again. It was a bit crass of QI to make fun of him, especially after he had died earlier that year.

    Over to you.
