Salisbury Cathedral? If so I have actually climbed inside right to the top in the days when you could...before health and safety took over
Yes Yorkie got there. It is Salisbury Cathedral that had the spire added in the early 1300's. In addition to it having a window for each day of the year, a marble pillar was installed for every hour of the year. (8760 in total) Over to you.
http://edwardrutherfurd.com/sarum.html This is a great historical novel about Salisbury and the Cathedral through the ages.... worth a read if people like this sort of book. Anyway: Which rare Ford Consul Cortina sold for £800 and why was that was a good price?
I think that was in the news yesterday - a South African issue Dinky 139. Presumably a good price because it's toy?
The actress Angelina Jolie's uncle wrote a 1960s song which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, but which was incorrectly credited to the singer. What was the song?
Very interesting article on him on Google. But as I've cheated then I will let someone else name him. But it's not Jolie!
It's Wild Thing - written by Chip Taylor but generally credited to Presley. "Chip Taylor" is actually James Voight, brother of John and therefore uncle to Angelina Jolie. Voila - but I have to admit all from Wikipedia. So you had better set another question, BB.
Was going to give it to c-d, but what the heck... I guess that everyone recognises this symbol and the organisation that it represents - but how was the design arrived at?
It is a combination of the flag semaphores for the letters N and D (as in nuclear disarmament) - often used on ships.
