That’s exactly how it is. I was saying to someone how the defeat at Kennelworth (sic) Road was important, because it’s a fixture we look forward to and the stakes are individually higher than any other away game in the season. If we won every game against them, it would mean less. Bit like the old England Scotland games years ago. But that competition is what drives us. The yank owners (I think they were particularly responsible for the ESL) haven’t the faintest about what makes a football fan tick.
In regards to the QPR game you talk about, I think we’ve all been ok to see something other than a win for our club if it helps a team we like (not ‘support’, clearly that’s a different thing), or knocks a team we don’t like. My wife supports Arsenal, she’s from there. I’m not a Gooner, but if they beat us, it’s not the end of the world IMHO (well, before the ESL thing, anyway ;)). Funnily enough, I coach a kids’ football team, and we have often played against Norwich City. The coaches from there are good lads, and the club is one of the most supportive of the football we play (Inclusive football). Watford are also very active in this field (we sometimes play representing the Hornets). The fact we are both back in the Prem is good for Inclusive football, so our collective survival up there is important to me and I will cheer any result you get (with a couple of obvious exceptions!)

Good luck next season - and I am not any less of a Hornet for wishing you that!

Strangely these little spats seem to have actually improved relations between our clubs, certainly from my POV. I thnk it's important that we call out idiots - even if they are our idiots. It's funny how we view other clubs, my wife is from the NW and at Christmas I used to take in a game at either Maine Rd as it was then or Anfield. Always a good atmosphere at both. I must admit if late I have been a bit " Anyone but Citeh" . I quite like Pep but the policy of throwing money at it I just find sickening.

I'm sure we will play different styles next season and I actually think that your chances of staying up might be better than ours, but of course a lot can happen before then. Anyway, I feel like I've made a few Watford friends, thanks lads for being welcoming.

You have done brilliantly with a great manager and the same squad of managers..even though we were better than you last season in the Prem....

I couldn't agree more. Mostly, I have loved this season - even though it's been at a distance. (But then living in Cheshire, it's at a distance anyway. I get to 12 home games and 5-6 away each season usually.). I was really despondent after our awful display at Kenilworth road. Then, at half time at Carrow Road I said - this is what I want to see - the result might or not go well, but I'm enjoying it - that's what matters. BOTH teams played some good stuff. I would quite like Barnsley to go up (although I do think Brentford have played the best football I have seen, but then I've only seen WFC games) as it would be a spectacular achievement. They started out in relegation trouble.
It's encouraging that our 2 clubs, in quite different ways, are trying to make sense of the mad world of the top end of football. WFC have had some pretty scary times before the Pozzo's came in. I believe with absolute confidence that Gino Pozzo is a genuine football man ,who cares for the club, its future, and importantly, its history. Naming our 2 'main' stands after Elton John & GT was an excellent example of the awareness - and GT's statue too. We are in good hands there. I was alarmed when Duxbury came, as he had been at the centre of the West Ham business over 3rd person rights . But he has also shown great leadership - even if it looks very odd to the rest of the football fraternity. Let's hope our 2 clubs are playing each other for many years to come. I certainly wouldn't want to be looking at WFC's financial numbers - having had some quite frightening years running and owning (part) of a tiny company competing with very very large ones - and with very very large clients - equally scary.
    See you next time !

I was wondering whether Elton John had lost some of his interest in Watford FC because I have seen no congratulatory messages from him to the club. However, it has now been confirmed that Elton sang on and made this youtube video. It was also mentioned that he contributes regularly to one of the fans' forums, but not to this one.

Big shout out to The1881 who offered to clean up the town centre pond after the promotion celebrations at the weekend.

Realy shows off the club in a good light, so from a fan from far away, thank you - it is good to see the community spirit is not just within the custodians of our club, but also in the supporters also
