With the squad NA had at his disposal, the more Cup games we get the better. I'm sure players will be trying to impress in the hope of being selected on Sat. It can only be a good dilemma to have!
It's a bit worrying how we'll get enough match time for the whole squad. I suppose the younger players will go out on loan now.
Trying to do my line up prediction moments ago, it brings it home the selection head ache Adams now has. As long as the first team maintain form that's easy enough, but what of those who don't make the bench? How do you keep all those who think they should be playing happy? You can't pick all of; Vadis, Howson, O'Neil, Murphy, Lafferty, Benno, Hooper, McGraddles and that's before you name a keeper or any defenders. In my book we needed cup runs just to keep the squad happy and more ready for game time. Bah!
Actually our situation makes the EPL 25 player limit very sensible. I have been against it when we were there, but can now see the sense of it.
I agree we needed a cup run GM. But it was those players you've listed job to get us through against Shrewsbury. With the greatest respect to the Shrews, that team should have beaten them. They didn't, so I don't think they can moan too much about game time over the next few weeks. They will know it's an opportunity missed for them.
We need to consider that Howson and Hooper were coming back from injury in their first game and in an unfamiliar side. Odjidja was playing out wide rather than CM or ACM. It was all a bit makeshift really. Adams commended Miquel on his performance but the whole match had the feel of a pre-season game, where getting game time was the key.
Another away win, great result but I wish we would snap out of this going behind business, it is becoming silly.
Don't think they do it on purpose, Thurnby! I was surprised at how well Blackpool played, given all the problems they have had. I also wonder if player fatigue is becoming a factor. Adams has acknowledged this, citing the high intensity training sessions as well. I think we may see some rotation on Tuesday to freshen things up.
I'd like to think so, as players such as Wes I'm sure shouldn't be playing 2 games in 4 days. Good chance for fringe players to make the starting 11.
I'm surprised that Forest have slipped below Derby, and Watford down to 6th below Boro and Wolves, but that does tend to give us a bit more breathing space at the top. It's looking good if we can take advantage of our two home matches next week.
Watched the whole match, and the second half was much the better. Wolves came to play it tight and not take chances, but were gifted two goals by Reading, who were then gifted two goals by Wolves. The defending was very poor on both sides. It made me realize how much difference the pace and high tempo passing of our players makes as this often seemed in slow motion by comparison. Reading will struggle to make the play-offs on this performance. Wolves are slightly more of a threat, but not to the top two places, IMO. Two points gained off both this week-end with our away win and things are looking good with two home matches coming up before the international break.
I watched the second half Rick, so might not have really picked enough up, but I thought Wolves looked really pretty good for the away side. I can see our home match against them being the decider, if I'm honest. I thought the gifted goals to Reading were out of character for Wolves, but they showed real attacking threat to make up for it and they won't make those defensive lapses every match. It took a scorcher (via a deflection I think) from Murray to nick a draw from the home team. Beginning to think we did ok to only lose 1-0 with a player sent off. Otherwise I agree with you though
