https://amp.theguardian.com/footbal...er-league-liam-rosenior-signings-acun-ilicali Decent article popped up in the Guardian last night. A few interesting points!
I reckon we'd have lost today's game ( v WBrom) earlier in the season, wilted under the pressure. I call that progress.
I didn't think they put us under much pressure, which was actually progress in itself. These better teams in the division are now being outplayed, or forced to sit back, against us. Yes they hit the post but so did we, outside of that they didn't create a whole lot and we dominated possession.
TeamHullAway TeamWest Brom Possession Home65% Away35% Shots Home9 Away11 Shots on Target Home3 Away4 Corners Home8 Away3 Fouls Home10 Away10 More shots than us and more on target. Does not exactly fit in with Syd saying they created little. If that is the case we created less.
I thought they looked more dangerous on the whole. Hit the post twice (albeit thanks to us ****ing around) and put in a few dangerous crosses that "on another day", to coin a popular phrase, could have been turned in
All the commentary team on talksport said they were the better team overall in the first half and were better up to Fabio’s goal. Said they were dealing with us quite comfortably and that we never really threatened them whilst they created several good chances, and that our goal was against the run of play, but then we improved after the goal and 1-1 was probably about fair at half time. I thought the second half was much of a muchness between 2 evenly matched teams. 1-1 was a fair result based on the 2nd half alone.
I'd say that's pretty fair. There was big stages of the game where we cancelled each other out and there was maybe a marginal winner. I think the major progress is that it was similar to the game at their place but we looked more of a threat today.
This is a drone YT of the stadium showing the lights mentioned before... More investment ..? (complete with annoying music)
Just been playing around with this new football Ai, takes detailed football stats and feeds it into a ChatGPT style bot. Interestingly the things it comes out with using the stats matches up with what a lot of us have said. Hull City is relatively strong in general play but has specific areas of weakness, particularly in offensive efficiency and certain defensive style aspects. Hull City's goals per 90 minutes and expected goals per 90 minutes are mid-table, ranking 11th and 12th respectively. A significant area of concern is their non-penalty xG per shot, which at 0.09 is below the average and ranks them 22nd, indicating a lack of quality in shooting positions. Additionally, their expected assists (xA) from crosses per 90 minutes is one of the lowest in the league at 0.16, ranking 23rd. 6th for successful dribbles per 90 minutes, which is a highlight in their offensive play. 3rd for total passes per 90 minutes, suggesting a preference for ball retention, but their long ball ratio is low (20th), indicating a less direct approach to attacking play. Defensively, Hull City is more efficient, with their xGA per 90 minutes ranking them 4th, and goals conceded per 90 minutes ranking them 7th. However, their defensive style metrics reveal weaknesses, particularly in Build Up Disruption where they rank 21st, indicating a struggle to disrupt opponents' passing. Their Pressing's Passes Per Defensive Action is also low, ranking 18th, suggesting less effective pressing. (This could be intentional due to playing style) Hull City's main areas for improvement are in creating higher quality shooting opportunities and enhancing their crossing effectiveness. Defensively, they need to focus on disrupting opponent build-up play more effectively.
Careful Ai chap bot fella, you'll get accused of being overly negative, wanting Rosenior to fail and get sacked and you'll have your findings twisted and mis-interpreted out of recognition. Actually, that's a near bang on summary of what several of us having been saying for ages now.
That’s an accurate description of us based on stats. Our shooting is below average, we retain possession well and we’re fairly solid defensively with the caveat being we don’t make many tackles or interceptions.
