Problem in attack

Disclaimer. This is not an attack on either Mackie or SWP. Just my view on one of our problems.

We have 2 wingers that are hard working but can't produce much in the attack. I don't say Hoilett would do better but we need players that can take players on the wing and get a cross/shoot, We've seen when SWP did it and made a cross, it was really good chance for us. It seems we can't have a good attack if Adel isn't involved in it. Not a good thing. We need players to share some attacking play with Adel. Your thoughts?

Too many moments around the area where we try to look for a pass to feet, rather than a run-on pass into space to get away from defenders for that split second. That's the difference. Anybody who has the ball in midfield seems to halt and see if anybody will any runs - and don't get me wrong, the opposition defenders are doing a great job holding their offside line, which is why we see Cissé hang off it so often - but we can still do better to the corners with run-on balls rather than having to try to FIND a player in space so we can pass to his feet.
Need a whole lot more diagonal runs.

Thought SWP was very good today. Him and Mbia were our best. But Mackie was hardly PL standard. Hoillet wasn't much when he first came in either but close to the end when he started to get into the game he looked a threat. With the players we have now I'd like to see Hoillet left side , SWP right, and we need Bosingwa playing for us to give us a threat down the right side again, like Traore provides on the left.

Dead right I'm serious. Ferdinand, Onouha and now Fabio have all played RB recently They have provided nothing going forward. Bosingwa did well down the right side, helped create goals and is as good a defender as these 3. But Harry has got to get him to give us 100%.

Ozzie, you still ain't answered my question on other threads. If you think Bosingwa has been hard done by, why won't you come out and have a go at Harry Redknapp?

Redknapp will probably never play him again. If you're serious and not on the wum then that must make you feel angry?

How many times do you want me to say I'm serious?! What questions? Anyone who thinks we haven't had a problem down the right with Onouha, Ferdinand and Fabio playing there the last games hasn't been watching them. Bosingwa has of course rightfully got his fine for not sitting on the bench, but now Harry needs to get him playing for us again otherwise we going to have to find a good RB as well early January. While we already need to bring in 2 strikers and at least one CB, bringing in still further new players is not we want to do yet again.

What do you mean by that? You were there? I acknowledge his hard work. But you are aware when when the player has the ball camera is following him? And when SWP has ball it seems it scares the hell out of him. Yes he had one great run and great cross. And after that he ( just like match or two ago) he went with the ball outside of the pitch while no one was putting pressure on him. Can someone make a list of attacking play SWP did good in this match? Like crosses and shoots, dribblings etc. To me he just seemed clueless when he gets the ball. I think he tries but he's not a good footballer anymore(if he ever was)

There's no doubt their both hard working but the truth is they provide very little cutting edge.

SWP rarely looks like providing a telling cross, let alone score.

Personally, I would like to see Mackie played up-front for the first 60 mins or so; and as Cisse seems to confine his scoring to the second half, a substitute's role would seem to make sense. Or, seeing how we're desperate for goals, perhaps a return to 4-4-2 with Mackie partnering Cisse.

The crowd rose and applauded him on various occasions, he was great! His song got sung on a couple of occasions as well. Hard working, good tackler, and scares defenders when the ball's at his feet. Hopefully this persists and he doesn't return to the abominable standards he's set in the past!

Edit: sorry i didn't mean anything by that EP! I was busy earlier so didn't have time to write a proper response, just wanted to add an opinion to the thread & see what the general consensus was

Problems in attack?

Was always gonna be with just a minor signing in the summer. Okay so the cruciate wasn't AJ's fault but he's been injury prone and no-one brought in as understudy...

There are goals in our midfield but with to little to inspire them in terms of effective strike options, we're putting too much reliance on them. With a strike partner for Cisse they might get a few between them - and sod's law says the midfield would start scoring too.

Just a thought.

Truth is, TF and Co were sold a seriously duff steer by MH and his crew and it has left us pretty much ****ed.

Let's prepare for the Championship and hope the team show some pride and we avoid finishing bottom of the PL this year.

If there is any justice Hughes will not be able to waive his magic wand of **** over any other club after how he has squandered our Chairman's money, faith and trust in him and ****ed our PL prospects.
