Hang on, slow down! That is what alot of Saints fans will be saying when I mention these two lovely words? Due to our position in the league at the moment I think that it is highly likely that there is a 90% chance we will finish in the top 6. For the optimists out there, I believe they think we will have a good chance to get automatically promoted.
In my opinion, when we gained promotion from League 1 and then if someone said that we could get into the playoffs I would have bitten their arm off. I knew we had a very good squad to compete with the various teams in this league, however, not in my wildest dreams did I think we would be doing this well. Credit has to be given all the coaching staff, management and the team for this run of excellent form.
Now (finally) the point I am making is that if we believe that we have a good chance of gaining a chance of automatic promotion, who should we sign in January? Should we be aiming to get proven Premiership quality in our squad or gamble on in-form players that aren't currently proven in the top league? Or should we leave the squad.as it is because of the way we are playing at the moment.
I would love for us to make a couple of decent signings in January to bolster the squad (especially up front), however, I understand that Nigel likes to keep a harmonised squad so he clearly knows better than me considering the position we are in in the championship.
I just wondered what your opinion was fellow Saints?
