It's a fair point. It's probably unlikely, but Saints could have a real measure of direct control over whether they finish above ManC.
TSS - so happy to finish above Pool and the Spuds, been too long a Saints fan to get too optimistic, but the strange thing when l saw the fixture list at the start of the season to visualise that game as a relegation survival fixture in my worst nightmares - what a great season we have had to see it in a totally different context, seriously we now write about European Football.

Well RS, somewhere in the Saints Not606 archives from August last year is my prediction for our finish - 6th. It's a measure of this club's rise, for me personally, that I may even be slightly disappointed if that is what we achieve.

That Derby was a great game, a proper slugfest. Cant say I've got love for either side so c ouldnt care who won either way. Got to say that a City slide is good news for us tho and ManU have been looking out of reach for a while now. Doesn't look like our final game of the season is going to be a relaxed affair does it? It may be a potential decider but how good is it to be playing for european league places instead of nail biting will we stay up or not games!

This Newcastle team are a disgrace. Feel for their fantastic fans

Not sure I do. Not after the way they treated Pardew for ages. He's showing at Palace that he can manage. I'm loving the fact that he's getting to stick two fingers up to Newcastle each week.

And besides, it's not like I look at Newcastle's team and see a bunch of overpaid mercenaries who should be doing better.

Snap!

The embarrassing thing is that this is Newcastle before they've given up. Just wait until they stop tracking back, or stay lying on the ground after being tackled etc.

Newcastle seem to be operating on the principle that "Our defence is so bad we might as well not bother".

By the way, a lot of Newcastle fans didn't blame Pardew for the mess they are in this season, but rightly blame Mike Ashley for asset-stripping. Last season they had Rémy, Cabaye, and Ben Arfa in the squad who scored 20 goals between them, but who were sold without being replaced with similar quality.
