Monday Night Club on Radio 5 really kicked off this evening. Blimey, I thought they were going to lose their tempers for a minute. This was all about Steven Gerrard's stamp and sending off. The conversation has been about Champions League places and John Motson [Bless him, all is forgiven] has been citing that Saints are by no means out of it, considering their run-in and the fact that they got most of their top 6 matches out of the way over Xmas and New Year. He wasn't being gainsaid either.

Also talking about the proposed changes by Greg Dyke. That's to come, although I'm listening about half an hour late.

Cool. Will listen to it at work tomorrow.

BBC's Sports journo, Phil McNulty has had a go at predicting the final placings for the top 6, this season. The difference is that he's doing it game-by-game, with explanation from this point onward. Quite interesting:

No problem with our final position as I think we will be 5/6th...be very hard to get 4th. However, he is far too generous to United...they have been very up and down. A good performance against Liverpool doesn't change that. Arsenal are also prone to ricks, but will probably hold onto 3rd. I think (hope?) Liverpool will fall away as well (especially considering they will be missing a few players), whereas we will do a bit better than he suggests. My league prediction (which is hardly startling) is Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United, Southampton, Liverpool..

Telegraph do eventual table if 20125 form continues. Don't blame them for doing it...we are all wetting our fingers to test the wind direction. They have us as 7th...which is possible, but I think is too low as we are recovering a bit of form. However, to see how daft it is look at our GD....will never be that low. They think we are going to have let in 49 goals by the end of the season!!

Hahahaha that really is awful isn't it?

So let me get this right, they're predicting that the league's best defence will concede roughly 3 or 4 goals against Aston Villa, Leicester, Sunderland AND Hull - 4 of the 6 worst strike forces in the league.

Can't believe they actually pay their sports journalists money to come up with this garbage! <doh>

They are banking on SKD having a series of nightmares I guess? Don't they realise that with our defence we only need a token GK?

I see that Toby has perhaps inadvisedly opened his gob in saying Yes, when asked if he'd like to play with his countryman Jan Vertonghan. It obviously means he can't wait to leave Saints for Spurs. You won't need a link, it's everywhere on the crap news sites.

Ask a loaded question get a duplicious reply, read between the lines and voila! You have a story, not a factual one, but nevertheless a story.
