I wouldn't write off palace just yet. There's some poor teams in the fight this year, & they have a few decent players. If they beat Qpr they will jump out the bottom 3 & overtake a couple of other struggling clubs......who'll then go on and sack their gaffer.......no doubt. Its a dog fight down there.
Yeah, Palace isn't done by any stretch; they are in danger, but there are a number of clubs for whom the same can be said.
Please let this be true. My flatmate is an Everton season ticket holder and has been banging on for the last 18 months about what a hero Martinez is and how he is destined for the very top etc. Despite me pointing out numerous times that Paul Jewell did a better job than him at Wigan and him being massively over rated. He also pretty much always uses McClaren as the bench mark for ****test manager ever so this would be glorious.
I quite like Martinez, but his willingness to attack at all opportunities has really been undone by the fact that his team cannot defend on the break; they've surrendered more goals than relegation-threatened Burnley to date. Sacking him would probably introduce a modest improvement, but they'd likely be best served by keeping him and adding a bit more mobility at the back...Jagielka/Distin/Berry are all good players, but they're all older, and not the greatest match with a fullback pairing that spends most of their time in the opposition's half.
