So nothing going our way apart from WHU losing...come on Swansea.

Don't think it's that big a deal frankly. Whoever won that game would have got significantly nearer to Saints. The trick is us winning at Villa Park. Chelsea's win was inevitable. In the battle of ex-Saints managers, Pardew gets a great result. 4th in the table. I find myself very pleased for Toon simply because they've pulled themselves up from the bottom while other teams can't decide what to do.

Definitely want ManU and Arsenal to draw now. Want the 'big' clubs to drop points.
I want every other team to drop points. It almost doesn't need to be said. Thing is, if we are going to hope for any result when other teams play each other it should be a draw almost every time. If one team wins over another nobody has actually dropped points, in effect.

Assuming we're not trying to win the league but come 4th - WHU and Swansea losing has got to be good as (at the moment) they are our closest rivals!

It is confusing trying to work out what is best....draws all round I guess. My feeling is that I would be happier with Swansea, WHU, Newcastle etc snapping at our heels. We'd have a better chance of keeping ahead than if City, Arsenal and even Liverpool had a good run and caught us up. But who really knows...best keep winning :)

Big mistake. Of course we're trying to win the league. Beefy was only explaining this sort of thinking to PL the other day. You aim as realistically high as you possibly can. If you fall short you still achieve. If you aim for 4th that's the best you'll do. It's basic sports psychology. You aim to overachieve, and if you fall slightly short you still achieve.

The good thing is that we are the team in possession...we only have to match those below us, they have to do better than us by 'X' points.

Arsenal have been playing well, but di Maria had a dangerous shot. Only need to give teams like United the odd chance as they have good individuals.

I'd like to see us chase Chelsea, as a main ambition. That may mean doing better than keeping pace with those below us. Keeping those below us could be a secondary ambition, but if we are to finish in the top 4 we have to behave as if we are going to chase down Chelsea. That's the way we'll stay as high as possible in the table. The overachievement is that we may finish top. It's slim, but not impossible.
