Everton, Liverpool and Spurs are in 10th 11th and 12th respectively. All languishing 11 points behind us, but the great thing is all seem devoid of form and confidence.

As much as I enjoy seeing Poch struggling, its pretty clear he's not the source of the problems. Levy, players etc they've got to change a lot. Attitudes all wrong.

Collymore has just said on TalkSport that he expects that their larger squads will see them overtake us by game 20/25.
I think people underestimate how much of a gap 11 points actually is (especially as the three will have to play each other amongst other games)

I wonder when we will stop being dismissed. I assume it will only be if we beat Villa and then get 4+ points from the games against United, City and Arsenal (basically only lose one at maximum)

We have to beat Villa because it is another "easy" game per the media (despite Liverpool losing to them)

I get the sense that Collymore has decided point blank that we can't possibly sustain it. This is why he never mentions us when talking about the top 4. We become invisible.

Also, are the Everton, Liverpool, and Spurs squads genuinely better than ours? Those that know more about football than me, please let me know.....

I think they have a lot of back up players than our backup players. We have some good back up in Cork and Long (and eventually JWP). Gardos seems OK as well and probably better than Jos.

But we struggle in back up at full back, goalkeeper and striker. And I am pretty sure our philosophy will allow us to sign backups on reasonably high wages when we have the academy.

We need to try and identify players in those areas we are weak who can challenge in multiple positions so they aren't guaranteed a slot on the bench if on player is playing well.

E.g. A big striker who can play wide (like Sakho at West Ham) would be able to try and challenge both Pelle and Mane/Long etc
OR A full back who can play either on both sides or as one of the attacking wide men (kind of like what Zambrotta was like back in the day but I am not aware of many players like that around at the moment)

Only position this approach will not work for is goalkeeper

No probably about it. He's a lot better than Jos.

Gardos made a couple of mistakes during the second half against Stoke, but I think they were down to him being not completely match fit. This is something that will need to be managed with our back up players who don't play for the U21's: they will have to have some game time occasionally to keep them sharp.
