If Liverpool go for a striker in the January transfer window, and are knocked out in the CL group stage (making the need for a deep squad pretty redundant), then I could see them being willing to loan Lambert out. And I would happily take him to sit on our bench for five months.

I was thinking this as well. I would love him back.

Speroni was either brave or just plain stupid to say he could carry on in the Palace goal. That elbow that Dawson did to him was really bad. Right in the soft temple. And Dawson looked to be doing it on purpose as well. Looked ugly.

I think Dawson might just get some retrospective action for that, as the ref didn't do anything. He certainly deserves a ban for dangerous play. Could have been really nasty.

Not sure I would, I want to remember RL as the Saints Gladiator leading the line and banging the goals in. It is bad enough seeing him sat frustrated at Liverpool, I would not like to see that at St Mary's after all the greatness he did for our beloved club.
I think from a Saints only perspective this move worked well. We got some money for a player on the down slope, we replaced with a very good centre forward and as fans we keep the memory of Rickie in his absolute pomp!

Any news of that, or is he going to get away with it..?

In other news, ManU v Chelsea. I find myself in the absurd position today of wanting ManU to win a football match. Don't get me wrong, on a level of 1 to 10, it's around 5-6, so it's its no big deal. Besides, I still have a tiny soft spot for Chelsea after my Mum made me a Chelsea kit nearly 50 years ago, simply because it was too difficult to make a Saints one.

But if ManU win today we stay in close contact with Chelsea, with a better GD too. As every pundit and his dog keeps saying to us, you won't be able to keep it up. That maybe so, maybe not so. At least we could do with the teams around us failing. That will help. And anyway, only yesterday I heard John Hartson and Steve Claridge starting to make a case [albeit knowingly a little one] for Saints to make the top4.

Pundits beginning to take proper notice..! How about that..?

Poor Spurs. Played a lot of pretty tippy-tappy stuff in the first half by all accounts, but are now 2-1 down at home.
