On the subject of Manure, I heard on BBC606 last night that Rooney came in for some criticism because he wasn't playing..! That is, ManU were better without him.
The subject became a little wider, as it always does, when the media talk about Wayne Rooney. I was ][ far away from texting in to say that nobody actually dislikes Rooney. What they dislike is the media's obsession with him and ManU. The football public would like him a whole lot better if the media would just get off his subject and talk about their club instead. My text would have been something along the lines of...
BBC606: Please stop talking about Wayne Rooney. We don't dislike him. We would rather you just spent a decent amount of time talking about the clubs that make up the meat of the Premier League. For example, Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke City, Swansea, just to name some esses for starters. Would it be too much to ask for a ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, ManC free programme once in a while..? I'm willing to bet that most club supporters DON'T want to hear about them all the time. They want to hear comments about their club. Be the programme that takes a break from the Arsenals and Chelseas. The other fans might just start calling in, in numbers then. Oh, and please don't answer this text with a We do, because you can't wait to get back to talking about the big clubs and their news.
Instead, the programme ended and I thought better of it. But one day..!
