They'd have to be to lose to United.
Which isn't great when you consider that the only striker they've signed is Vargas on loan. I don't want to write him off yet, but I've not got much faith in Austin being able to score a decent tally of PL goals. He surely wont have the same sort of impact that Remy had for them (and even that wasn't enough to keep QPR up).
So if you're not going to score many, you do sort of need a solid defence to make up for it.
I get the impression with Van Gaal that if you don't suit him, he will move you on and not spare your feelings. Look how he treated Welbeck...sold him to Arsenal and then said he just wasn't good enough for United. Most managers would just have said that Welbeck needed to go to a team where he could play more....same meaning, but not plain unpleasant. Shaw needs some more nurturing...United under Van Gaal is not the right move.
