Good post. You obviously devoted a bit of time to that bit of info. As to cheering us on and the slips up of others, surely it's standard practice when it indirectly affects us, ie. every game.

I like to see it like this. From day one there are the usual suspects who'll challenge for leading positions. The ideal is that they lose against lowlier opposition and draw when they play each other. If that can happen throughout the season then Saints can take care of themselves. In short, I do what you suggest above as a default.

Then there is the reality. On the whole, better teams tend to win over inferior teams. We know this. This season, the usual suspects/better teams, are not quite having it their own way. Good. It makes the Premier League less predictable, more exciting and competitive.

Yep one quote doesn't make fact. I hope he does stay and I bet others do as well. It's just hard to see unless he has changed his mind.

Hopefully, I don't want to remember Jay like I remember Lovren and Lallana now.

It would be great if he was available, even if for 10 minutes or so. I'm not saying he should replace anyone at the moment but, you know, Plan B and all that.

With Palace and Chelsea 2 days apart we'll probably need all hands on deck. Just think, if Jay came on and scored the winner against Chelsea to take us top, he'd never be allowed to leave!

Good news about Jay. Hope we don't, but we could need another striker for the second half of the season. Pelle can't carry us on his own...I know other players score, but you have to have someone technically up front. Interesting about visiting Adidas, because JWP's stress fracture has been blamed on his boots.

Does anyone know how long the "final stage" is considered to be? And when is the festive period technically supposed to start?

Is there a chance of him being ready for the bench in 5 weeks for Burnley (his own target)

Also when was jwp injured. I assume he will be on course for a return at around a similar time which will be a good boost

JWP injured away to Swansea - 20th September. I'd guess 1st or 2nd week of December for him.

Forget plan B, having him back will give added competition in the squad and keep everyone performing.

Might be dependant on what we achieve by the end of the season. For example if we managed to qualify for CL he might be tempted to stay and sign a new contract. Another could be whether he gets a run in the first team.

Well, turning down a new contract is a far cry from refusing to play for the team or making a public stink demanding to be transferred this instant.

If Rodriguez makes it clear that he plans on leaving when his contract is up, that's fair. It's better for the club to know than to get blindsided. That will probably have the same effect as what Lallana and Lovren did by forcing the club to sell him, but it's fair. He's at the end of his contract, he put in his time. If the club forces him to play out his contract, I bet he wouldn't mind terribly as it just means he'll make more and have his pick of sides when he does leave.

I ment if he demands to leave in Jan. I don't mind him leaving at the end of his contract.

If he refuses to sign a new deal then I would imagine he would be gone before the end of his contract anyway, and most likely in Jan/this summer. So it is essentially demanding a transfer as it is very unlikely Saints will just let a valuable asset go for free in 18 months time
