After the response to switching to a back 4, I think he'll start with that with Mclaughlin, Sanderson, O'Nien and Hume. I can see Leadbitter coming back into the midfield, Jones and McGeady starting and I think he'll stick with Wyke, whether Stewart will be up alongside I'm not sure.

Anything but a win and it’s play offs for us. Let’s hope Johnson’s learnt from his **** up on Saturday.

That's Peterborough who couldn't beat Rochdale who are bottom and against whom they conceded three goals?

BTW, I think you actually mean shoo in, a common mistake tbh.

It’s pretty obvious to anyone that Jones needs to start in place of Gooch imo. Gooch works hard, but the amount of times he could play the simple pass, turns back into danger and gives the ball away is infuriating.

In terms of top 2, have to win this really. Don’t want power at right back, doesn’t give a lot going forward and even less defensively. Think this is the perfect time to give Jones and hume starts even if neither can last 90. Probably would stick with wyke, do think he could do with a rest but this is too important a game. If we have any fit centre backs, I’d be tempted to move onien into midfield with scowen and one of leadbitter/Winchester. Think we’ll win this, Wigan can’t settle for draws really

    Burge in goal
Back 3 of Maclaughlin, Sanderson, O'Nien
    Wing backs Gooch and Hume
    Midfielder sitters Leadbitter and Winchester
Front 3 of Jones, Wyke and McGeady

At least that would be my choice. I think Connor always makes the defence more solid. Leadbitter and Winchester were class together first half at Peterborough - almost the perfect midfield showing in terms of control. Wyke must not leave the width of the 6 yard box as we have 4 players who will make the pitch very wide.

Now watch LJ do something much cleverer <laugh>

Jones is good for 30 minutes tbh.

If he could sustain his influence over the whole game Rangers wouldn't dream of selling him.

I like him but wouldn't sign him and don't think the club will try to.

He may convince those people, who are easily impressed, but sadly he's just another Maguire.

Have to disagree mate. I think he is a seriously good player. Has technique and pace - not a common pairing. I do think he will get stronger too in terms of minutes on the pitch. For me he is easily a championship level player. If it wasnt for his hammy he would be 100% now.

My one criticism is he reacts slowly to danger when defending, he doesnt see it. He is not alone as a flair player in that respect.

I really hope you're right, that we sign him and he becomes a club legend ...

... but there's just something not quite right with him imo.

Time will tell mate. One thing I have learned is you cannot predict what will happen in footy. I was convinced Kieron Brady would become one of our greatest players but he had some awful luck. Bloody loved watching him though while it lasted.

Having two forward flair players, in this league, doesn't work imo.

Wyke had many more crosses when it was just McGeady than with him and Jones.

There needs to be work rate behind the front players in L1, O'Nien has to be moved out of defence imo.

He has what we need behind Wyke and O'Brien but, wtf, who knows ...

... Johnson has some hard decisions to make.

    I’d like to see 4-2-3-1
    Burge
    McClaughlin Sanderson Wright Hume
    Leadbitter Winchester
    Jones O’Nien McGeady
    Wyke

    Neil - Leabitter
    Winchester - Scowen
    Jones/McGeady - Diamond or Maguire
    O’Nien - Gooch / O’Brien
    Younger - Wright
    Wyke - Stewart
Hume - McFadzean (at a push) / Vokins

That team looks good to me.

I can't see a place for Power and Wright should be there without question.

Jones can play 45 minutes but should be replaced as soon as he starts to hide imo.

Got no time for Power lacks quality and class for me
Torn between Jones and Diamond went with Jones cause hes probably got that bit more quality that Diamond will get with experience

45 minutes each and I'm not sure which way round it should be tbh.

Try as I might, my memories of wigan is the walkway above the away supporters, with only 1 railing, stairway up on the right. Me & my brothers half time/pre match bollocks talking always includes how much we'd have to be paid to climb up, & go all the way across & back.
I know, I know, sad git etc, must have been to Wigan too often.

    Yeah I agree
Diamond to run them ragged then Jones’ bit extra quality to finish them off could work better

We drove up from Mansfield with no tickets and thought it would be easy to scam our way in as usual, it wasn't.

There were hundreds without tickets and we had to think on our feet.

We went to the Wigan section and started a row with the stewards saying we were Wigan and Sunderland supporters were taking our places.

Even that didn't work but there was trouble outside and when the stewards went out, we put our shoe in the gate and let dozens in then us.

Missed the bloody goal but not the 85 minutes of unbearable tension.
