Think a few are going a bit overboard with the Manquillo praise, although granted compared to Johnson he looks like Cafu. He had a good game, solid defensively (which makes a change!) and tried to give width on the attack. He did loose the ball a few times in the first half, but that's to be expected in his first game and at Anfield no less. Promising start and hopefully much more to come.
Johnson was alright at LB, but still tries to do far too much with the ball and ends up loosing it. Occasionally it luckily rolls out for a throw in...
Aside from the obvious players, I thought Gerrard's passing was sublime today at times and he was defensively sound too. Good to see him finding some form before the season starts after his 'worst three months'. He'll be important for us.
