Mignolet; Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno; Can, Henderson, Coutinho; Firmino, Benteke & Ibe. Would be my starting line up, what about you?

    That a 4231 Lucaaas?

In the context of such a system my view would be....... I can see your point.

I would want coutinho to play it faster if he is cam though.

2 goals, one for new striker and one for guy that's only just come back into pre season.

Clean sheet as well as a decent test against a team that sat back and made us try to break them down with not much attacking threat. Good work out for the attackers if you ask me <ok>

They worked hard enough but did sit deep as you said. It was a reasonable run out to get lads up for the off.

The concept of two minor games back to back to get all up to 90 mins is not a bad one. If sahko and can and Benteke get 90 and firmino gives at least 60 I think it is well worth it.

4-2-3-1 (ish) with Coutinho sligtly deeper than a traditional CAM & Firmino out on the left wing but I imagine Moreno would be providing the width on the left while Firmino drifts infield from the wing, if that makes any sense.

Liverpool saw off Finnish side HJK Helsinki 2-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho.
In the day's other friendly matches, Aston Villa were held by Nottingham Forest, Leicester fought back to defeat Birmingham while Everton and Newcastle suffered defeats to Leeds and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively.
At the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki, the Reds left it late to break the deadlock in a game of few clear-cut chances, substitute Origi turning well in the area after a nice flick from James Milner with 15 minutes remaining

Oh yeah, I agree. But I think it should be a straight choice between him & Henderson for one spot. I don't think we can have both of them in the line up, unless Milner goes out wide.

Unfortunately, these two are nailed on CM's.

I agree that both are too similar. These two are incapable of being in a 2 man midfield - they need someone holding behind them.

    Hopefully Can will. <ok>

I don't really think they'd do well together even with a holding midfielder behind them. If you have 3 in midfield then I think you need one of them to get forward, score & create goals a la Gerrard, Lampard, Vidal etc. I don't think Milner or Henderson are that type of player. I think they're both suited to be the 2nd man in midfield, at best. The guy who gets back to help out the DM but also gets forward to add numbers to the attack.

That first midfield would be much more balanced. Can to hold with two box to box energetic players in hendo and Milner in front with coutinho and firmono providing the support to Benteke.

Are relying on the full backs to provide the width so when they go one of Milner / hendo can sit with Can and provide cover in the wide areas.

Put the 2nd team up just to show a bit of depth we have in the squad now, should be able to compete well in the cups and league now

Only saw highlights of yesterday's game

Ings' blowing that tap in chance way over the bar was terrible... although I think he may do pretty well with us he obviously needs to work on his reactions and touch and is clearly still raw

Seemed to be that we had plenty of chances but - duh duh duhhhhhhhhhhhhh - we couldn't put them away!! Now where have i seen that before?? So yeah, poor finishing and an inability to score ... until the latter stages of the game from Origi and Couts which were both great goals ... great work down the flank from Ibe and then really good reaction and turn from Origi

Some of what we saw doesn't bode well and indicates another frustrating season where we will have plenty of scoring opportunities but fail to convert to goals. Will have to see how Benteke and Firmino do today. Have seen rumours today linking us to Negredo and Lacazzette again so that would be Sturridge, Benteke, ?, Ings and Origi as the strikers. I think another more established FW wouldn't be a bad signing so we have 3 mature players and then two younger ones in that position.

Coutinho... we know what he's all about, team has got to be focused around him, he's brilliant

Give benteke chances in the box and he'll score them. As long as we're creating chances then goals will come. Rather be creating and not scoring than not creating at all.

Yes lad, very creative football was the main positive I could see

it will be up to Benteke as Sturridge is like fine bone china... do not drop or store the wrong way up, fragile handle with care

I'm not so sure. I agree I wouldn't want to see Milner and Hendo as a two in midfield but Milner is a decent goal scorer and one other thing we missed massively last season was having a player constantly hounding opposition defenders....Hendo will do that all day every day but he can't do it from a deeper position. Not guaranteed to work but I think it could have a good balance between attack and defence.

Yeah,Milner's the type of player who will get forward and score/assist/create on a regular basis. Much more suited to that role than Hendo who I can see playing the deeper position of the two

I'd want Can behind those two though OR because I think Hendo's best form for us has always been as a midfielder playing further up the field.
