I would not be at all surprised to find that church going kids are better behaved. Why would that be surprising? Some correlations actually correlate! Sure a lot of statistics is made up (99% I hear) but stats is a very good tool when not taken out of context, and perhaps it now has an unfair reputation. Incidentally there was this great graph in National Geographic years ago that correlated woodlands and alcoholism...
Did it plot woodland area density (per sq km etc) vs
% of people living in that area that are alcoholics ??
It wouldn't, but we don't even have anything to demonstrate it, first off.
Secondly, we wouldn't know whether it's cause or effect or even if the two are related.
Are parents that enforce behaviour that results in well behaved children more likely to take their kids to church, for example?
Are their similar correlations between good behaviour and children being encouraged to participate in other "clubs", like karate, ballet, etc?
Would something utterly unrelated be a bigger influence on behaviour, like diet, exercise or sleep patterns?
One point of data can be as damaging as it can be helpful.
I think (it was some time ago) it was much more simple. Something like a comparison of percentage of woodland and percentage of alcoholism on a national basis.
Funnily enough we were slagging off To the Lane and Back in the transfer thread earlier, and here's their latest article cherry picking tweets about the Juventus match...

Who wants to sit these people down and explain to them that if they're so angry about the club not spending money that they boycott matches, they'll be even more angry that the club don't spend money because they have less money to spend due to people boycotting matches?
I don't think the clubs need the petty pennies from fans, that's why tickets should be cheaper in general. I understand the fans being pissed off at times.
The club should have sold tickets for £10 adults and a £5 for kids.
It's bizzarre to charge nearly £25 for the cheapest adult ticket to a pre season friendly when the cheapest adult tickets for the Burnley match in the Premier League 14 days later are £30!
I am not spending £60 plus on tickets for me and my daughters to go to a meaningless friendly.
But who in their right mind thinks that us not buying anyone in the transfer window means the fans should boycott matches?

Fans threatening to boycott games because Spurs have not spent money are like spoilt brats.
We live in an age of instant gratification and people with nothing worth hearing being encouraged to air their opinions endlessly. If someone aired that bollocks to a live audience, in a pub, they'd have the piss taken mercilessly forever.and learn to keep it to themselves for fear of confirming their total idiocy for all time.
The internet suggests that there are more villages in England than I thought or that most villages have more than one idiot.
That last guy's Twitter posts are literally all negative ****e about the club.

It's fair enough if you think you are being priced out of going (like the United fans when the Glaziers took over) or if your club does something outrageous (like Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes) but to boycott cos of a lack of spending is simply pathetic.
I think the club is unrecognisable to the present epic days. Yes, we've made mistakes and yes we could have made more of some transfer windows but Christmas...between 1990 and 2002 we qualified for Europe twice and never finished above 8th...and almost went bankrupt! And we were subjected to some of the most turgid football imaginable.
Since 2005 we have qualified for European football 11 times in 12 years, we came 2nd, 3rd, 4th (twice), 5th (4 times), 6th, 8th, 10th. We have seen scintillating football and some world class players such as Modric, Berbatov, Bale, Lloris, VDV, Kate and Allison not to mention players such as Walker, Rose, Wanyama, Toby, Vernon gen etc.
This is with a brand new ground to come.
It's a shame we ain't won more trophies but seriously...do these people slating the club have no memories?
I get posters such as OS and CK who make realistic complaints and love reading posts of those I do and do not agree with but a boycott...cos we ain't throwing money around?

People should spare a thought for the fans of teams such as Carlisle and Mansfield who support their teams come rain or shine, even though they are light years from getting into the top tier.Completely agree.
