I think the priorities are to get waghorn (I hate the nickname waggy) and Brady to remain with us for longer than January. Then I don't really think we need that many if any players.

Waggy permanently, with Homer leaving. I can see us extending Brady's loan unil the end of the season. Depending on our situation at the turn of the year we could go for some experience on loan or on a permanent to help the younger players.

i can see one of the desperate clubs in Lancs...either Blackburn or Wigan making bid to sign Jay Rodriquez. but Maynard would no longer bring in anywhere close to the amounts previously mentioned as he is out of contract in the summer. the quandry for bristol city is that do they keep him for the season and risk losing him for nothing or do they wheel N deal him with someone. ? as ive been saying the next few months will be very interesting.

Leicester fan in peace (Our boards are pretty crap at the moment)

Re, Nicky Maynard. I can see him leaving Bristol City for a free in the Summer! We offered £6.5m for him (9 months left of his contract and has shown no signs of signing a new one) but they rejected the cash saying they want him to sign a new contract!!!.

Looking at there squad they really need to rebuild and that kind of money would have been enough to get a few good players. They may have even finnished in the Championship but istead they decided to put all the pressure on Maynard to score more goals than they conceaded and stay up that way.................. He's now gone off the boil and they are rock bottom!

Because Sven has a thing for him I think we (Leicester) will be back with about a 2m offer in January which BC will turn down again; I think we will just offer him a big contract on a free in the summer!!

I can't see him going to Blackburn because they will be playing Championship football next year anyway!

Good luck of you do get him though :)

Sorry, I'm confused who do you think needs to rebuild their squads; Britol City or Leicester City? :emoticon-0136-giggl

There is ABSOLUTELY no way we would go anywhere near offering that kind of money for a player who is unproven at Premiership level and we wouldn't pay that kind of money for a Championship experienced player because it is WAY over value.

We like to "Try-before-you-buy" which is an excellent and prudent way of going about business. We will like as not be putting in a bid for Waghorn come January. Be warned though if Leicester try and get more for him than his proper value (nowhere near the £3m you paid for him) we will walk away.

bristol city need a new manager first. from that appointment others may know which road they intend to travel down.

but with maynard being a free summer signing i dont expect there to be a rush for him in jan. maybe a desperate PL club like swansea as an example. interesting times ahead.

LEt's not waste our money... get brady and waghorn. the former potentially bought and not loaned. Let's not splash on strikers until we find one that scores on his debut ... i think having 4/5/6 strikers would be very bad for the overall vibe of the team. We don't need much to be honest.
It's a tough one for me because whichever area we cover, means you are letting down a player who has joined us recently. For me that's as silly as changing managers after 3/4 months.
If some are willing to leave, like harper or adebola then yes. but otherwise I'm not sure. A young striker would be best. One willing to sit out if necessary.

most of us agree that getting Brady and Waggy for the season at least has to be the priority and if the Allams have some cash then keep Oli.

But maybe the likes of Harper will be alllowed to leave if someone wants him.

I suspect it's the level of investment will be different. To go to extremes, if we're in 3rd place and a couple of points off the autos they might be prepared to take a risk on the level of wages they'd offer the right player on the basis that the PL money if we get promoted was worth that risk. If we're midtable there's no point offering near PL wages for a player to "guarantee" promotion if we're going to be stuck in the Championship next season and it will take the wages of 2 or 3 players. Better to keep it until the summer and spend then when better deals can usually be done.

The financial fair play rules have kicked in as well, not in terms of the blocks on promotion or points penalties but in terms of the accounts being monitored. This is the first season of accounts that will be counted towards a rolling 3 year profit/loss figure that has to be within certain levels (and gifted money doesn't count as income afaik). They might be prepared to guarantee the finances if we sign a player, but they're going to want a decent risk/reward figure and if it fails it could cause problems with regards penalties in future seasons so they need to weigh those up.

I don't think in the next 3 1/2 years that promotion is the thing that determines whether or not it happens, unless we are actually going to move to Melton and use PL money to fund more of the project.
