We were told as much in the fans forum (December?).

It has been dead for a while and club said there will be no chance in ownership this season but that it is something that will be looked at in the future.

Semmens also stated that this could either be in the form of additional investment i.e Gao & Kat only sell part of their share(s) or indeed a full takeover.

Either way it didn't sound imminent.

The worry is that, the longer we go without a buyer, the less attractive we become as a proposition, unless Gao is willing to take a significant loss. We're adding debt, and a buyer is likely to want that taken into consideration when purchasing.

I'm also really dubious that anyone is going to want a minority share of an unprofitable club given the lack of control...or, if someone was so inclined, that Gao would plow that money into operations given that it reduces his equity in the club and basically guarantees that he walks away a loser.

We also need a buyer with money to invest not a buyer going around equity markets looking for cash. What the hell would have happened when the equity people came knocking? Bye bye best players.

I would like to know what kind of person you would expect to buy a business where there is little source of immediate income? Anyone buying a football club during a pandemic would surely need their head examined. I don't think that there are many clubs throughout the football tiers who are flush with money at this point in time,

He would have been even worse than Gao based on his track record so I wouldn’t get too bothered about this.

Yeah I'm not disappointed that this particular potential takeover hasn't happened. But we do absolutely need a positive takeover soon.

Theoretically, this should be a good time to buy. Gao should be motivated to sell, and the reason for the cratering revenues is temporary. We should be an attractive investment for the simple reason that we ought to be cheaper now than we were a couple years previous, and we're in a better place than most regarding our infrastructure.

Of course, that would involve Gao being willing to sell at a loss, and before the club accumulates a tonne of debt. And neither of those seem likely.
