The story behind that songs quite interesting though. He had returned from a failed trip to make it to stardom and phoned his parents, his mum was cool with him coming home but his dad told him to **** off. He was wearing a purple suit and it was raining. And he felt like a clown, hence purple rain I like the song tbh
He did sing a lot of other peoples songs, but he also wrote some bangers. Beat it, Billie Jean, Dont stop till you get enough, Bad, The Way you make me feel and tons more. Prince especially was a more prolific writer, for sure, but as an overall artist, to say he "cant be mentioned in the same sentence as Prince and Bowie" is ******ed.
Why would I need to quote myself? That line is a follow up to the last line of my previous post, which was immediately above it. You read them in sequence, obviously.
Richard Cheese's version of **** the World is the best Christmas song- and don't try telling me it's not a Xmas song, my Pandora Christmas station plays it all the time at Christmas in between all the White Christmas and Winter Wonderland renditions. (it's funnier if you've heard the original) It's not a Xmas song, but his version of Wet Ass Pussy is better than the original too...
I love the song - never get tired of watching him play the solo and there's lots of different YouTube videos from different concerts... probably watched them all ... was also moving to see Dave Gilmour pay his own tribute after the little purple dude passed - he wove part of the solo into Comfortably Numb at his next concert performance... respect. Ignore Spurly - he thinks The Banana Splitz were the greatest rock band ever - different genres and all that ...
Before I play it - does anyone actually play any instruments on it? - or is just some otherwise unemployable nerd with tech equipment sampling other people's stuff and overllaying it with some GCSE level poetry?
