I am off to the post office in a minute to take my daily orders and I walk through the bad side of my street. I will take 2 pictures either side of the road that crosses my road and then try and explain that far from these people being "against immigrants" they are against immigration, not for what immigration represents but because of what it has enabled ruthless employers to do all assisted by an establishment that has aided the argument that they are lying.
This divide really is very very close to home for me because what the underlying sentiment walking 2 minutes in one direction is very very different to the underlying sentiment walking 2 minutes the other way however the language is the same. The meaning is different.

1) Still the same freedom of movement (actually slightly looser as there won't be any passport checks at Eurostar, the tunnel, the ferry at Dover...plus travelling to EU via flight using just a driver's license instead of passport would be possible)
2) Still pay EU to access single market
BUT
1) Have to follow all of EU's regulation with no voting/veto rights/no place in EU parliament
2) No funding from EU for city building etc
Will we have more control over OUR LAWS ? Or can the highest court in our land STILL be over ruled by the European courts ?
Why would they be pissed, or why would UK join EEA?
The answer to the first question is to be in the EEA, you have to allow for freedom of movement of workers, capital, etc. which is what many of thoswe who voted "leave" were against.
As for why UK would join EEA, I presume because it saves face for the Brexit leaders. They can say that they withdrew from the EU, and the EEA is not as onerous. Except again, the thing they will have once again go along with the thing really disliked about the EU and in fact you will have less control than ever because you will be bound to obey the free movement laws while having no vote.
You all have an awesome deal under the EU. Like, totally special rules just only for you. If that's not good enough, then leave. But you're not going to get a better deal as part of the EU or as an EU-affiliate than you are getting, or can negotiate for right now.
It will be worse. We actually veto a lot of stuff ( most of it the public never hear off) atm. That will change.
In terms of human migrancy, I am actually from a fairly recent Italian immigrant family. My grandmother and grandfather on my father's side came to Britain near the end of the 19th century to seek a better life, and to show the English what proper ice-cream was like. I believe he didn't need a passport then, as there was free movement between the countries, if the people had the means to make the journey. They encountered very little in the way of xenophobic bad feeling, and it was only when the 1st World War started that they were made to feel like outsiders, and then only for a short while. They prospered between the wars, and it was only slightly before and during WWII that they were once again reminded of where they came from. My grandfather and grandmother were actually taken to Southampton Common to be processed and they had to stay in a camp for a short time. My Dad, who was born in 1913, had married an English girl and they'd had 2 kids and he evacuated the family to Andover while he worked in a reserved occupation making Spitfires. After the war my eldest brothers were subject to being beaten up, but they eventually started defending themselves and the bullying stopped. By the time I was born the xenophobia had practically died out, but occasionally, even I would get a bit of it. I'd put up with it until someone just took me over the top and then they got it all back. I handed out a few bloody noses, because people wouldn't take any notice of my turning the other cheek, as we were supposed to. By the end of my school days it had stopped for good, and has never returned. I put that firmly down to Britain being a member of the Common Market, the EEC, the EC, and the EU. Under the present climate it wouldn't surprise me if it returned.

If we became an affiliate member under the same rules as Norway then yes. I don't know if Beefy has seen something I haven't but most of the Brexit camp (not including people like Farage because he has no power to make any decisions) are not saying anything about that. They are stating that they have a clear mandate to do away with the freedom of movement and move to a points based system. They were this morning and early afternoon unless something has changed since. I wouldn't take what Boris says as gospel anyway even if he does make it to PM. He like Cameron is one person that needs the support of those "under" him.
Are we talking about the same thing here ( sorry ) .
I am saying If a person in England is found guilty of a crime , and it goes all the way to OUR highest level , that , said party , can go to Europe and STILL get it over turned ?
