So, now we are moving free of the EU, will we now have the capability of shutting down all the tax loopholes, that allow big business to move their tax burden away from our shores, or is that not possible?
And, if possible, would we ever have a government with big enough balls to do so, in the knowledge that so many MPs are (allegedly) in the pockets of the big businesses, and business people themselves?
Seems to me that we will need every penny we can get.

Both of you are right here: there are some frustrations but one cannot ignore the divisive and horrid rhetoric in this campaign.

I'm not going to simply say, hey ho, my side lost, and I'm happy with you right wing nutters running the country and taking us out of the EU. It's democracy, yes, and I accept that. I don't have to like it or agree with it.
Doesn't matter whether the "nutters" are left or right, they are still out of touch with reality in their own way.

I think it is time you stopped posting on the other thread and then closing it again. If you have a view, post it here so we can comment on it or not?

That or show me the ways of the Force :)

I don't know if a lot of what you are saying is incorrect but I know this is wrong. Scraping the bursaries actually means they are not limited by funds as to how many nurses they can enrol/train. It actually means more British nurses can be trained so we don't have to get so many from abroad. It takes time to train them so it will be a while before we see the benefits. Before you say no one will apply, they have already tried it out and were inundated with applicants.

Not 'round these parts !

My wife is slightly involved at B'mouth Uni Nurse Training, talk is of reduced budgets and applications not increased places. Don't be fooled by some classic massaging of figures by Gov, they've started to include post degree and associated healthcare training in projections.

Time will tell but really, the idea that removing money from nurse training and lowering rewards will increase those wanting to train?

The one guaranteed result is to restrict the pool from which you're recruiting.

There is no guaranteed result because we only voted out of a political organisation. What we have voted in to is yet to be decided. All day people have been stating (not here, at work) absolute visions of a terrible future, but I will repeat what I said this morning. We have an opportunity to choose a new direction for the UK - and it can be as inclusive as we want it to be. We just need to keep up political pressure to make this new Britain something worthwhile.

Now we can all turn our attention to the Spanish Elections, the second batch in six months. The current PM, Rajoy is just about as popular as Cameron has been for the past year. However, unlike DC he will be laughing as all the voters will be at the beach except those who vote PP. I suspect many in the UK will want to swop Bull**** Johnson for Rajoy by November.

No one will give a **** about the Spanish elections on here apart from you as we don't live in Spain.

Or we could wait to the end of January and get Obama as our PM, such is the dearth of suitable candidates. Or perhaps the Tories could offer Angela Merkel and unbelievable salary to lead them? After all we have a host of non British managers in the PL. Do we have to have a Brit in No 10?

Thank you for your brilliant response. I suppose you will say the same in November with the US Presidential Elections? Anyhow in the meantime, enjoy Bull**** Johnson spouting sweet nothings to the media of the UK and portraying what a wonderful guy and PM he is going to be.

Why are mods allowed to post in a closed thread? What is the point?

The shame of this whole issue for me is that it was so close. I do think it not right wrong to make such changes over a vote that was pretty close to half the country not agreeing with the other half.
