BBC now reporting that the man arrested had a history of mental health issues. I would have thought this would have been apparent from his gait in the video clips.

Not an issue of terrorism but ho this country treats people with dangerous mental health issues.

People top quick to shout terrorism especially if black people involved.
And why isn't it terrorism? The police classed it as terrorism very quickly so I'm willing to bet it was.

This will most likely transpire to appear to be no different that the similar case in Nottingham where 3 people lost their lives due to the lack of supervision of a patient or indeed the dreadful stabbings in Stockport.

i just feel that calling things "terrorism" is an easy option. The real issue is the number of dangerous people out in our streets and why our social services departments seem powerless to prevent this. The collapse of our social services is the real issue and not Islamic terrorism. i am sure that the attacker will be found not even to be a Muslim. It just fulfils the anti-Islamic agenda in this country when there is a much broader issue of mental health not being properly dealt with.

Disappointed that the BBC perpetuated a terrorist / antisemetic angle whereas they should be reporting on the failings of our social services.

The police declared it a terrorist incident - how else do you want them to report it?

You do know a group called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (Hayi) have claimed responsibility for the attack?

Besides, the "collapse" of our social services didn't behead a soldier on the streets of London, it didn't cause individuals to suicide bomb the transport network, nor did it cause a Libyan to strap an IED to himself and blow up a bunch of kids in Manchester.

To equate this instead to social services failures is a stretch even by your increasingly odd standards

Ian, two Jewish people were stabbed. It was clearly a crime driven by antisemitism. It disturbs me that you don't want the BBC to report it as such.

I will say they could be full of bullshit and just want the publicity.

Must have taken them a long time to phone that one through.

"Could you spell that again for me sir?"

No joking matter? Okay, sorry...

By flagging it up a terrorism it will merely encourage others and give someone publicity who should not get any media attention. It will also serve to heighten tension between different communities as well as encourage the gammons from the likes of Reform. Stating it is a terrorist incident so early served no purpose and less so now that it would appear to be a mental health issue. If he proves to be someone on PREVENT of with a record of extremism , then this can be considered a terrorist issue tomorrow.

As has happened so often recently, the terrorism tag is banded about too readily and often inaccurately. People are more are risk from from others with these difficulties than genuine terrorists.

That isn't what defines terrorism.
