My point is that accepting the views of Reform has had disastrous comsequences economically and socially. The damage caused by Brexit is catastrophic and will have long lasting consequences. The racial component has emboldened people to spout racist comments most of us felt had disappeared in 1980s. We have gone backwards from 40 years ago when real progress had been made. I just feel that Farage has been instrumental in this change. I think the fact that someone as eloquent and intelligent but so deeply repellent as IOAG can be seduced by these views , illustrates how serious this problem is.

The grooming gang atrocities in Rochdale first came to the notice of most of us with the BBC series “Three Girls” in 2017. This is still available on iPlayer and I would urge everyone who hasn’t seen it to watch. That the perpetrators escaped justice for so long is one of the worst scandals in modern history.

Posting aged articles from the Mail on Sunday says nothing for the credibility of the gutter press that it is and even less for yours. No doubt you expect comment along those lines wouldn't want to disapoint.

Did you not read who the journo was? Yasmin Alibhai Brown is one of the most likely people to be on any show and scream "waycist" at anyone and anbody, yet she wrote that article! Daily Mail or not, her name on that article should say something!

I think that there will be a lot of indpendent MPs in Midlands and Lancs where they pick up Muslim votes.

Maybe but I still don't buy Labour and Tory being that low at least in England. Then again FPTP with 4 contenders, assuming Greens move towards the 20% region, is going to make things very unpredictable as to who wins the seats. I don't think Lib Dems can move up to that level. They are sandwiched in the centre and "the public" are moving outwards. Meaning those that will be swayed from the centre of course which is an increasing number.

I can see there being more pro-Palestine mps than Liberals. Just feel the Muslim vote's importance is under represented in your poll. Not sure if there is a Muslim candidate in the forthcoming election but such a candidate in this constiuency should do better than Reform given the demographic.

We know social media is a sewer, and X is the cesspit the worst of the **** flows through. But I think there’s a chance we’ve passed peak toxic mass, and people are turning away from manufactured hate and rage online. Have to hope so anyway.

Rupert Lowe has the highest post engagement of any MP on X. The young folks are not really massive on X. They are on there, yes but their reach is on youtube, tiktok, instagram! This focus on X won't change where they reach their audience.

Following on from my post on Friday which apparently some had trouble understanding, or attack being the best form of defence tried to switch the thread into being about me. It isn't the first time that tactic has been seen on here especially when those people have no credible defence to rely on. I couldn't care less about whether people don't like having alternative opinions on here or even if they don't like me. But trying to deflect away from the issue at hand by making spurious accusations only confirms that tactic is widespread, not only on here but in the case I'm posting about.

So, for those who can't or don't want to understand what my post was about, or for those who can only attack the source of information rather than argue the issue itself, this is another opportunity to educate yourselves. Not from the Mail on Sunday but the beloved Guardian.


The national inquiry into grooming gangs “must be fearless in confronting uncomfortable truths” after too many girls “were failed by the very institutions charged with their protection”, the victims’ commissioner for England and Wales has said.

The government confirmed on Monday that it would set up a statutory inquiry and accept all 12 recommendations of Lady Casey’s rapid review of the issue. The home secretary, Yvette Cooper, told the Commons: “We cannot and must not shy away from these findings.”

The victims’ commissioner, Helen Newlove, said: “This inquiry must be fearless in confronting uncomfortable truths.
“Too many girls were failed by the very institutions charged with their protection. This is our chance to lift the stone, expose those failures, and ensure they are never repeated.
“Victims must remain at the heart of this work. Sharing experiences of child sexual abuse is deeply personal and often retraumatising. Thousands came forward to the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse – often for the first time – yet years on, too little has changed. We must not repeat those mistakes.”

The children’s commissioner for England, Rachel de Souza, said the girls at the heart of this scandal “have been failed by every professional in their lives”.
She added: “They, and the institutions that were intended to protect them, ignored their voices and sidelined their experiences. They must be held accountable for turning a blind eye to a sustained campaign of violence against young girls by predatory men.
“This is a source of national shame – I’ve been clear nothing can be off the table in pursuing justice for the victims.”



Although Yvette Cooper has announced a public enquiry would take place, previously the government said there was no need. Because of that Rupert Lowe set up his own and then said he would continue with it because the government were dragging their heels. Whatever you feel about Lowe, I cannot see why people call him a c__t or racist in this particular situation. It does seem to me that in their hatred for Lowe, they have decided his inquiry must be based on racism rather than the justice of bringing corrupt, repellent officials to prosecution.

IMO race/religion has played a part in this scandal, but mostly with the offenders and those who chose to cover it up.

Pollsters are all over the shop at the moment.

The Welsh election in May will be a good exercise in checking which of them is on the right track, as the variability between polls there is even wider.

Yougov has Plaid Cymru with a 14% lead, More in Common has Reform with a 7% lead.

Not too keen to be wrong on it, but the Lowe crowd appear to be some of the most terminally online going, I am not sure his support on ****ter translates into the real World - I don't see him destabilising Farage as the circus leader, at least not unless the latter does manage to become PM and inevitably catastrofucks the UK, causing the rats to seek another floatation device.

A lot of his "support" on X comes from the fact that Musk retweets him (or at least used to, I haven't looked at the horror show for ages), which means people/bots of a certain type will follow him.

Its not the following that is the problem. he has way less followers than many MPs like Starmer or Farage. He even has less than Raynor, Burnham and Jess Phillips! It is the post engagement which is multiple times higher than any other MP! People liking and sharing his posts!
