The whole scenario is so uncertain I don't think any prediction is anything but wild guesswork. I'm not sure what the opposition will do, or are able to do, if they get majorities in the midterms.

US military confirms seizure of Russian-flagged tanker
The US European Command has now confirmed the seizure of the tanker.In a post on X, it said:
The tanker has changed it's name to Marinera and is now Russia registered.
They would be unlikely to get big enough majorities for impeachment. I don't know how much of what he's done would be found to be unconstitutional and/or illegal by the houses or the SCOTUS.
Exactly. I think you need two thirds of the Senate to vote in favour and no party has that much of a majority these days.

My understanding is that Trump will be impeached if the elections in November go badly. I think the narrative about his mental health will also become a factor.
Republicans aren't voting to impeach their own president so it won't get past the Senate even if they lose the majority in the mid terms. Democrats would need 2/3 of the Senate to make it possible and that's very very unlikely.

Unfortunately the GOP won’t let impeachment happen. They don’t care if his senility gets worse.
There are suggestions from Fiona Hill, who was a security advisor in Trump’s first term, that Putin suggested reciprocity, whereby Trump weakened the US stance on Ukraine in return for a free rein in Venezuela.
An ICE officer has shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis. This is going to turn ugly, especially as it's the same city where George Floyd was murdered.
But Russia needed the oil from Venzuela.
I wish we hadnt assisted the American operation agaunst the tanker today. It was empty and letting it reach Russia would have no bearing. It would have been fun to have impeded the American vessel and thwarted the operation. I think the Americans are no better the pirates from Somalia. Their boats usually get destroyed by western forces.
Trump is becoming as bad as Putin. I do think that additional military spending is not the answer. Depressing that Labour , Conservative and Libs are all pushing for more spending on defence.
The US must feel they have a strong case and evidence to win the upcoming trial in March.
Admittedly it’s in their own courts, so not exactly impartial, but Maduro’s attorney is focusing more on the fact he was unlawfully taken from his country as opposed to denying the allegations.
The US seizing another oil tanker today used for drugs transportation will be more evidence gathering.
Just watched the footage of the women being shot by an ICE agent, it’s not the same version of events as being reported by Trump and co.
