Yeah its funny listening to Polish that learnt English here compared to those that learnt in Poland. Northern vowel sounds with the Polish English accent makes me chuckle a bit
A bit like Peter Schmeichel and Solskjaer with their Scandicunian accents.
Jenrick and Philp today, came across as a pair of failed stand up comedians, with speeches laced with poor humour and racist rhetoric, and Jenrick spouting personal insults against Lammy and Starmer, and an attack on the judiciary, somewhat out of his remit. He should have been quoting some forward looking policies and raising the spirits of supporters, but failed to do that.
The Os posts were most frustrating when they got into "Trump was right" mode. I see that some American Republicans are starting to think that Trump is a few vouchers short of a toaster. I just hope that people thinking about voting for Farage will not only cast their mind back to Liz Truss and pay attention to what is happening in the US.
I see Simon Yexley-Lennon has been invited to Israel. I am surprised that he is well known so far afield but I think it indicative of just how poisonous the Right has become in all of it's permutations.
I think the press will now attempt to bring down Jenrick. Just can see the fall out having some impact down the road. It will dent any future leadership bid.

Just listening to the Jenrick comments and I agree and disagree with him. He has made a statement that is true (some areas have bad integration) in a way that only a privileged white person would!
We are a diverse society and it needs to be multi cultural and integrated. However, only a privileged white person would use colour to explain it and not see what the issue is with his comments.

Exactly. Conflating Britishness and Whiteness is a horrible and clumsy way to say we all need to live together in harmony.

It was not a clever remark and looks even worse 6 months later insofar that it is yet another dig by a Jewish personality towards Asians. I guess it was not intended to sound like it came across but it is a far from helpful comment....especially as there are far fewer Jewish people in UK than Muslims. Not surprised why integration might not be an option when mainstream politicians make these comments. However, I think the audio clips release was done to cause maximum damage to Jenrick.
Hopefully we will soon see the back of him.

Jenrick is still living in the era when The Mail, Express and Telegraph were Conservative kingmakers, so it's their headline writers he's trying to appeal to. Not sure they are that relevant any more.

Far from it, the "right wing press" are gullible Westminster bubblers and actually believe the guy is saying what he thinks because they have very short term memories. He was a "Tory wet" that saw an oppo to push himself up, resigning as Justice Minister "on principle" in order to push himself upward...........as well as a fair amount of local scandal in Newark. All forgotten though it seems!
He's gone from "zero to hero" in a very short time despite never being any type of name even when in government. Probably due to that no-one knew who he was until he ran for leader that he is getting away with his fakery now!
I conflate British with accent. Or at least born British. I don't think most people are bothered at all with a sensible amount of immigration if people are also here to "integrate" and I don't mean fly union jacks whenever the King rides by, eat pie and chips and listen to Status Quo. Just not live in a parallel Britain by their own rules and insist on different treatment.
While the joke is on the stupid racist that loves his curry I think the importing of different cultures is a great thing but it should be complimentary and to be shared by all and not the "this is my culture you're not invited" kind of cultural appropriation arguments we currently get from some on the left.
Those voices of the left (not all of them by any means) seem to want to have a Britain of self segregated enclaves that are invite only rather than be additions to the existing culture for everyone to share and enjoy.
I would say he brought it upon himself at times. From my view and I rarely had input as you couldn’t have a civil debate with him.
He would make some fair points, but also spouted lots of utter rubbish. He would then deem his view as a fact and therefore wasn’t discussable. Many situations descended into absolute tosh because he wouldn’t entertain people challenging his views. And on the majority of occasions, were very much far right.
I use to see myself as right of centre, but people like Os and IOAG make me feel like a leftie
