Absolutely. They both are. But the noise around how evil Israel are to the poor innocent Palestinians (partly true of course) can also create the environment in which these kinds of appalling acts will ferment. We’re seeing it everywhere right now (and is a huge part of the reason Jewish schools need security guards and large proportions of my Jewish friends are genuinely scared right now).
The noise doesn’t tend to be balanced, and it almost gives license to those people not bright enough, or too mentally unstable, to be able to regulate it.
There’s not enough balanced discourse, and there are too few people that bother to read such things even if there was. Another scourge of social media.
John Major's goverment did 1 hospital PFI deal and a couple of others on things like a bridge in the ISle of Skye? Somewhere up there anyway and some benefits payments automation.
Labour big names like Harriet Harman and Alistair Darling were very critical of the method but.......... Blair's government went mental on them and used it as a cash cow using money from the future! despite the words of Alistair Darling in opposition being:
"apparent savings now could be countered by the formidable commitment on revenue expenditure in years to come"

But that is not the case here. This is more akin to the IRA. A Syrian man who has been radicalised by Islamic extremism and empowered in his thinking by the actions of Israel has committed a terrorist act. It is not a random act of violence and it is not something anybody in the real world will cheer on. The terminally online may find lunatics celebrating it, but then you can find anything if you look for it.
It’s a general shout of frustration from me about the state of the world mate. This is just one of a growing list of examples.

Yeah, I got that wrong. But the point stands. There is a radicalisation going on in basically every aspect of global life and people are very impassioned - and undereducated - but it isn’t randoms posting crap on social media that cause this particular kind of violence.
I don't think that the social media posts and the algorithms help one tiny bit though. They encourage people into the rabbit holes.

I think this is an interesting debate because the mainstream opinion within the Muslim community will almost certainly conflate Jews , Zionism and Israel and they will never cut any of them any slack whatsoever. This is even from people who originate from Pakistan, India, SE Asia. I just think that this is now a default mindset which we will not agree with. I would go further and argue that this excludes tolerance and maybe even a lack of empathy with other religions. I think Islam is generally a religion of peace and sects like Suffism have a spirituality well beyond Christianity.
I do find Islam fascinating. There was a discussion on the radio about 4 weeks ago which discussed the Koran. I did not realise that the reason it is revered so much is because it is the only religious book that is deemed to contain the actual words of God. Even most people who purport to be Christian realise that the New Testament is a collection of dubious and varied collection of accounts by mortals which can easily be discredited by reference to the historic accounts of Emperor's like Augustus. I think I can totally appreciate the superiority of Islam even though I am an atheist. This is because it is far more authentic than most other religions. If you concur that the Koran is the word of God, why would you not feel other religions are either inferior or even dishonest ? No other religion can claim this but you can appreciate why it would be so easy to get radicalised especially in environments like NE England with so much poverty.....not an excuse before someone jumps down my throat.
None of what you describe makes it superior. It is just another old story book that people are supposed to obey without question. The fact Islam doesn’t allow much in the way of interpretation (if any) just means the humans who preach the book have absolute control over what it means.
No book is capable of getting across any message which has just one interpretation.
I believe the chap who shot Jo Cox was a neo Nazi and I believe there was an allegation that he was inspired by a billboard poster that portrayed immigrants flooding into Britain that Farage had commissioned.

The Prime Minister has nothing to do with approving individual MP's security arrangements as the Times explained today:

I usually agree with your posts but I believe that the Koran is actually more of a
manual informing you to how lead a pure and spiritual life. I have not read it although I have enjoyed the Suffi poetry of Rumi and the novel Conference of the Birds. It is totally different from the quasi history of the Old and New Testament which I regret to find to be somewhat ridiculous.
I was going to write more but deleted it. All I will say is a short version in that Religions are belief systems! If you teach people that the words in your book are the actual words of god it is all to do with belief! There is no evidence, no witness! It is all about belief.
..........and while I suspect it is a mistype I don't think the problem environment is the NE of England. Their belief system is in coal, steel and nasty Thatcher.
He was inspired by the nail bomber decades before Farage (nineties) was even heard of and had been building and building to the point of his crime! The murder was only hours after that poster was unveiled and highly unlikely to have seen it in that timeframe!
