There's no evidence his friendship continued after Epstein's convictions is there?

Plus I don't care what Americans want to do with their government. I don't think someone with those connections should be in ours.

Fair enough. I don't think there is much that we can do about it though.

Quite possibly mate, we have a very strange relationship with alcohol in this country where it's found odd if you don't drink so people make assumptions.

I find that conversation frustrating at times as my problem isn't specifically with alcohol but with drugs as a whole. I could easily go a long time without drinking alcohol but I'd be consuming something else instead (or vice versa).

People tend to argue that surely I could still have an occasional drink if I didn't have a specific problem with it but unfortunately it's not that simple lol.

This is the issue. The norm is seen as you need to drink to enjoy yourself. Without preaching lol (I did that in the first 3-6 months of no alcohol lol), once you take 2-3 months entirely off it, you really realise it does nothing to enhance your day/night or any experience.

My daughter who is 35 did dry January and as a test and kept off it. Now 8 months later she said she won’t even have a glass of wine again. She feels so much better inside and mentally. No anxieties etc.

It really is society that pushes it down your throat - it is like if you don’t drink you must be an alcoholic (oh the irony!). Everywhere it is glamorised - think films and TV shows, the sophisticated woman sipping champagne or man drinking scotch the night before a big law case etc. in the real world the last thing if you were my lawyer trying to get me off a murder charge is drink half a bottle of scotch the night before lol.

Even the NHS have agreed that the 14 unit guide is wrong. There is no safe limit to drink alcohol.

It doesn’t make you clever, funny, macho or sophisticated. It just damages your body in some way.

Anyway lol, I said no preaching.

What I now know is I can go to the pub or a wedding and not drink and have as good, if not better time. Without preaching lol no hangover lol.

I agree he has, but he doesn't grandstand on being whiter than white. If you're gonna stand on a squeaky clean ticket you need to be squeaky clean. Farage doesn;t pretend to be an angel.
True. First thing I said with Raynor was you just can't lambast the Tories who have been awful for 14 years and then do something, well, the same. Just stupid.

Well you seemed to suggest we should keep him on despite that?

Only because he was obviously an important cog in the wheel, affecting the present and the future, his past could be overlooked until the job is complete, going off half cocked could be detrimental, while we find a replacement, there is no guarantee that there is anyone equal or better at the job in hand.

The press will eventually get him.

If Raynor was forced to resign , the same rules need to apply to Farage.

Rayner was hounded out of office by the right wing press. Farage will continue to get a free ride, like Boris did.

Appointing Mandelson was a terrible error of judgement btw. Labour are consistently held to different standards than the Tories, and Starmer should never have gone near someone as tainted as The Prince of Darkness (unless it was Ozzy Osborne)

And that's where we disagree. His friendship and support for a known sex offender overrides his competence for the role.

But then I'm not too surprised by this given your defence of Greenwood.

Greenwood? Oh yes the rape case. I said at the time I was confused by the evidence being presented, it appears that there was no defence for him eventually?
However according to United, the investigation result was that "the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged", but Greenwood "made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for" and there are "difficulties with him recommencing his career" with United. On the same day, Greenwood made a statement acknowledging that he would leave United; stating: "I was brought up to know that violence or abuse in any relationship is wrong, I did not do the things I was accused of. I fully accept I made mistakes in my relationship, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations which led to the social media post."

He called for her sacking because of her saying other people should be sacked for not breaking the law.

The only thing he said which is being jumped on as "shaky" is he said in response to a question "I" have just bought a house in Clacton which when pushed recently he is now being questioned on the spurious grounds that he said he bought a house when it was his partner that bought the house. I my wife (or partner) bought a house and we were a couple then I might say I've just bought a house. They are going mad over this silly nothingburger. I/We/She spoken off the cuff is their whole argument!.

Reading the article; he's claimed his partner came from an affluent background - alluding that her family casually lobbed over 800k for the purchase.

The fella clearly lies a lot - we know that - it appeals to his followers because they like them, many wishing them be true. It will eventually be a problem for him.

Apologies I shouldn't have brought that up. Not actually interested in discussing it and was poor of me to mention it in that context.

And oh look, it’s none of the three names that Twitter/4Chan were bandying around.

The ideologically engraved bullet claim has been walked back too.

The thing is with Trumpian Liedeology - is that the lies tend to stick around, if debunked only those opposing them tend to hear it and depressingly they're be another reign of lies incoming to assault the truth.

Liedeology 101 - keep lying.
