The point you are continually failing to acknowledge is that workers who make stuff simply couldn’t make anything without support from the public sector. It’s not a case of the public sector costing the country money, it’s a case of those services being an essential part of the economy.

Your reluctance to see the blindingly obvious is simply staggering.

I used to think he was an AI bot, but then realised an AI bot has more intelligence.

(Not an insult before you go bleating, an observation...)

Again - no one is saying they aren’t valuable to society.

But they do not generate any income and that needs to be factored in at the government level when making decisions.

Your emotional attitude at this obvious fact is one of the reasons the UK is in decline
Out of curiosity, what do you factor in to government expenditure that actually makes money?

You know what the funny thing is that politically, I am at odds with most on this board. I do get told that I am a leftie though which really makes me laugh as I really am not. It is only the fact that i am so much further in from the right than Os that I appear a leftie to him, but the rest of you would probably call me a raving tory.

The difference is you are capable of adult discussion, without needing to cosplay at being clever.

I got into an argument with some leftists online today. Never seen anyone who whataboutismed me so much. If I keep arguing with them I might have to become a Tory.
I have to unload. I am off sick today so find myself online too much.

Someone mentioned the 2019 Labour Manifesto, which I loved. I made the comment I loved the manifesto, just a shame Corbyn was unelectable.

The torrent of abuse I got! I said only because the papers were against him! More abuse! I apologised and said fine he is electable. I got told I am a pawn in the MSM.

Both sides have these lunatics.

Quite often these lunatics are the same person/bot

I must be missing something here. If you take the emotion out of the argument, then surely what Os is saying is true?

I don't pretend to have any in depth knowledge of fiscal affairs but to me he's saying that government income made up of taxes has to be paid out as they see fit.
Everything that has to be paid for is an outgoing cost and that includes NHS, defence, education, firemen, police, welfare and so on. Non of those organisations produce an income to the government (or very little). We all know their worth to the country but that is not the point. It's about income V outgoings.
Tell me, what is there to argue about there?

Yes, we all know it's a fact of life that the public sector doesn't create a profit itself but it is essential for businesses to function and contribute to the overall economy, the issue is what is Os trying to say? scrap it?

For me it is this false sense that public sector doesn’t contribute. Public sector workers pay tax so they are indeed contributing to the state. They also do essential work and contribute that way. The state is as reliant on the public sector as the public sector is on the state.

The only good tory is history.
