I want shot of all unelected organisations, that includes the monarchy and the HoL in its current form. The monarchy should represent values and behaviours that we should identify with - look at the last 100 years and what have we got - traitors, nonces, freeloaders, tax dodgers, adulterers, drug addicts, pissheads etc etc. The king is the head of the church, yet he and his wife can`t keep the 10 commandments. How much inheritance tax was paid on the QE2`s personal estate ? Who paid the £12M to keep nonce Andrew from facing the judicial system ? The hypocrisy makes me sick. Your Majesty this, your Royal highness that - chunder!
And the HoL - don`t get me started. Exhibit 1 - Michelle (sorry, Baroness) Mone. What a farce!
The Royal Family are like chameleons- they are what you want to see. For some here, they provide order and stability, for others it is an outdated institution that is at the head of a social structure dating from William the Conqueror's time that should be confined to history. For me, I am totally indifferent towards them but can identify with the need for a much slimmed down oñe with the patronage of state - coaches and the dress attire confined to history.

Buck house should be holiday lets as should the other crown properties. Chaz III could be the concierge.

I think the two historically major parties overlap a fair bit. In some respects you could argue the current Labour government is to the right of the last Conservative one - Starmer has criticised the Tories' "open border" experiment (and while I expect immigration numbers will remain very high they'll probably come down somewhat), they cut the winter fuel allowance and are now making changes to welfare that I think the Tories would have been scared of.

Or manufacturing plants producing high speed trains. Yes, the HSTs.were a brilliant piece of British engineering, and perhaps oñe of the last remaining.items from.an era when the UK produced things before shutting them down or selling them off.

So who is going to replace them on the right of British polítics?.Reform?. No way?.

Good question. A cynic might say, on current form, Labour. But that leaves the question, who will replace Labour on the left? Liberals and Greens maybe? Seems unlikely, since the Lib Dems are determinedly centrist and the Greens are mostly a one issue party…important though that issue is.

Everything is up in the air right now, we seem to be witnessing a seismic realignment in British politics. No idea how it all pans out tbh.

In four years time, the UK will once again be close buddies as I foresee a Johnson comeback as Badenoch continúes to flounder in the polls whilst her deputy has all the charm of a rotting piece of meat. In their quest to improve their ratings, Johnson will be elected and the media will once again restart their "Boris" love affair.

Ides

Not sure anyone will be close allies with the US in 4 years time. Boris has still got to navigate the Covid enquiry. I expect the US / UK relationship to have deteriorated by then.

I predicted a year or two ago that Starmer would create a split in the Labour Party that would likely cause it to splinter into two parties, one being his version of Labour and the other being a version that is truer to the Labour Party that genuinely stood up for the poorest.
I have seen nothing to change my mind on this and, with the right leaning voters being split between the Tories and Reform it might be an ideal time for a slightly more, left of centre party to start up, with the support of the unions and charities that have been disenfranchised by Starmer’s policies.
To be fair Starmer has put in some decent policies towards helping the workers and some of his intentions are good, but his frequent own goals and attacks on the weakest parts of society are the only things that are being reported on.

The Trade Unions and the Labour Party are closer than at any time since the 1970s. The RMT, an influential left wing voice within the labour movement which broke off it's affiliation with Blair's Labour in 2004, endorsed the party at the last election. And their reward is the renationalisation of the railways, a new deal for working people, and the repeal of at least some anti TU legislation implemented by the Tories. Unite remains a critical left wing voice within the Labour movement, but they're back in the fold; part of the family, so to speak, albeit a sometimes troublesome relative.

The fat crayon has stopped a program that was tracking the 30,000 abducted Ukrainian children, and which conveniently also means that a whole tranche of war crimes evidence against Putin has been deleted with it.

Must be fake news as it isn't on X or truth social.

As an aside, I find it ridiculous that people now call the media 'legacy media' as if it is now irrelevant.

There is the media that is fact checked and accountable and there is the wild west of social media where anything goes.

The phrase "citizen journalists" still makes me vomit and laugh in equal measure.

Yep it reminds me of convos I have with my team when we talk about the English language.

They say, Ah but we speak/write American English. I say there are two types of English.

English
And incorrect English
