'Legacy' media in UK unimpressed by the Trump / Putin deal but no doubt the opposite picture is being painted in the US.

Quite interesting to see how spectacularly the truce in Gaza has imploded with 400 civilians murdered.

At least talks have started. Biden would have just continued pouring money at the problem and letting the meat grinder continue.

Worth waiting to see how things play out now, instead of being bitter just because your hero Biden is being shown up

You make my blood boil.

I agree that Biden would never have pushed for a truce. You are correct in that respect. Continuing to arm Ukraine will have eroded Russia 's threat to Europe and the sanctions had started to make some in Russia turn against Putin. Other countries like Georgia were also emboldened to confront Putin. It a nutshell, Biden's policy was working.

American now has no allies it can rely on. When things kick off with China , they will be on their own. Europe knows that a powerful China is a threat to Russia. Europe has little interest as to what is happening in the Pacific. With China looking to Europe to do business after US sanctions, an emboldened US could be contrary to our national interest and certainly to the benefit of Europe.

We were talking about Trump in the office yesterday and the consensus was that America cannot row back from the position it is taking. The Democrats look totally uncoordinated and will not get in for the next term, assuming Trump does not a act against them to stultify their influence. I would concur with the opinion amongst my colleagues that Trump’s Anerica is a really bad place to be. It is not a transition that will be fleeting.

JFK files released and they’re pretty.. interesting

Seems like the CIA and FBI at the very least knew it would happen and failed to prevent it… at worst they orchestrated the entire thing

In four years time, the UK will once again be close buddies as I foresee a Johnson comeback as Badenoch continúes to flounder in the polls whilst her deputy has all the charm of a rotting piece of meat. In their quest to improve their ratings, Johnson will be elected and the media will once again restart their "Boris" love affair.

This is food and drink for the Tories without doing a thing. Someone needs to tell Kemi to shut the f*** up and let Reform.dig their own grave!

Can't like that nightmare scenario. Surely the electorate have learnt their lesson and keep the tories out, they are reform lite, nasty slimebags divorced from truth and integrity.

I agree but look what happened in the US? The Tories just need to keep tightlipped, let Labour continue making seemingly unpopular decisions regarding winter fuel allowance and the need for benefit reforms. Tories can then pretend to be so-called "Oñe Nation." And who fits that definition?

Well no they're not. The last lot were but the party will get another chance at some point. Labour will become increasingly unpopular again and the public will vote for change.

As I said the chameleon that is Johnson will come again as he is anything that people want him to be! With him at the helm, Tories will be exactly that. As you highlighted Labour will become unpopular, they're not popular now, even amongst some of their own MPs.

I predicted a year or two ago that Starmer would create a split in the Labour Party that would likely cause it to splinter into two parties, one being his version of Labour and the other being a version that is truer to the Labour Party that genuinely stood up for the poorest.
I have seen nothing to change my mind on this and, with the right leaning voters being split between the Tories and Reform it might be an ideal time for a slightly more, left of centre party to start up, with the support of the unions and charities that have been disenfranchised by Starmer’s policies.
To be fair Starmer has put in some decent policies towards helping the workers and some of his intentions are good, but his frequent own goals and attacks on the weakest parts of society are the only things that are being reported on.

QUOTE. Eliminate waste? Shall we start with the Royal Family and House of Lords then?.

You wish to eliminate the two Institutions that have kept the United Kingdom, united and sane. You would prefer a Republic with an uncontrolled lunatic at the head? No thanks, if I wanted to live in a Republic there are choices to the west and the South, take your pick.
I want shot of all unelected organisations, that includes the monarchy and the HoL in its current form. The monarchy should represent values and behaviours that we should identify with - look at the last 100 years and what have we got - traitors, nonces, freeloaders, tax dodgers, adulterers, drug addicts, pissheads etc etc. The king is the head of the church, yet he and his wife can`t keep the 10 commandments. How much inheritance tax was paid on the QE2`s personal estate ? Who paid the £12M to keep nonce Andrew from facing the judicial system ? The hypocrisy makes me sick. Your Majesty this, your Royal highness that - chunder!
And the HoL - don`t get me started. Exhibit 1 - Michelle (sorry, Baroness) Mone. What a farce!
