Thing is it's not like the resources can be extracted from Ukraine over night. It will take a while to get everything set up, and then years and years to actually mine the stuff.

In 4 years the Democrats will be back in power and they will cancel the deal as a goodwill gesture.
Possibly. Although apparently the minerals are really hard to extract so maybe Ukraine will want them to stay.
It would be hilarious if it turned out there weren’t any actual rare earths in Ukraine, and this was a long con by Zelenskyy.
There's already an established minerals industry in the Ukraine and is a big producer of steel products. Big investments needed to exploit largely untapped reserves and big profits to be made.

Good news to wake up to (the fact that's surprising says something) that Trump kept his sensible hat on last night and delivered a decent address to congress, including making positive noises about Zelenskyy and the situation in Ukraine. Fair play to him. Let's hope that progresses.

Double dose of good news too, the Republican general attorney in Florida has launched a criminal investigation into the world's vilest brothers, Andrew and Tristan Tate as well. Seems they might not be as safe as they hoped by going to America.

I can't see Trump reaching the end of his term but, by the same token, I cannot see the Democrats getting back in power. Trump has not started the process of enviserating them yet and I think that the more senior Democrats may find themselves facing criminal charges as Trump seeks to retaliate. The whole America First business will be difficult to wind back and I feel the damage will already have been done to the office in 4 year's time. Just don't think the Democrats will return to office in the next election and Trump will gave fixed the situation to make that possible so his vision cannot be challenged. I also think that ao many criminal acts will have taken place that they will fight tooth and nail to remain in office.

Agree with most of the above but note the 'exaggerated' statistics. DOGE, immigration, egg prices and so on. He's incapable of telling the truth along with his sycophants and media arselickers.

Taking your first ten words, I genuinely hope that if the western allies receive credible information that Trump is going to be taken out they keep it to themselves.
Trump is evil and I think the world would be better and safer without him in power.
He is empowering Russia and China with his actions which can only lead to more destabilisation throughout the world.
I get that countries don’t just do favours for others and expect something in return but he has effectively legitimised protection rackets. “You want protection? Pay me. Won’t pay me? **** you.”

Yeah, but that's just the standard bullshit that doesn't even register these days. Which also says something.

Not sure he's empowering Russia and China necessarily (or at least not by design), but he's trying to pivot Russia back toward the US and away from China. Which probably won't work. Because he's a wally.

I’m not sure that taking Trump out would improve anything at all. Look who would become Leader of the Free World on his demise! The man who was only on the ticket because Musk insisted. The man who has no trace of human empathy in his cold heart, who, just as Trump does, insists there must be financial gain for American business before any aid to Ukraine or anywhere else is forthcoming. The man who sees Britain as an Islamist nation with no free speech and no recent military credentials.

Plus, he’s only 40 years old, with potentially another 8 years after this current term in charge, even without revoking the 22nd Amendment.

During a rambling Presidential speech to Congress Donald, Trump was accused of making several dubious claims, notably when he said it was "time to stop the madness" but carried on speaking for over an hour.

Thiel rather than Musk, which is rather more insidious the further you dig into it.
